Before I posted in any more threads about thermals or night vision, I thought I would take a moment and formally introduce myself. I've only been a member of Snipers Hide for about 18 months. I first came here, to the Night Vision Devices forum, while I was researching thermals for a personal purchase. I've been interested in thermals since back in my Army days but didn't really have a use for them until hogs started invading our farm. I called a friend of a friend that worked for the USDA asking for help and information on handling our hog problem. He came out one evening and the two of us when hog hunting, with thermals. My first night out, we got three hogs. I was hooked then.
From there, I started researching thermals, including reading on this forum. I also picked the USDA guys brain for info. His annual budget allowed him to basically buy a new thermal each year and he had several that I was able to try. Of the brands he had, including Flir, ATN, L3 and Nivisys, I narrowed my choice down to Nivisys, specifically the Nivisys UTAC-32M clip-on. I felt that this would be the most versatile unit that I could afford.
My next step was to find a UTAC-32M. This is where I had trouble as I couldn't find any dealers that had them or much information on them. After months of searching, I finally contacted Nivisys asking for dealer information. There were none. Nivisys had primarily been a military and government supplier with a few being sold on the civilian market direct by Nivisys. I was connected to a local firearms dealership so my next question to Nivisys was "Can we become a dealer". Things went from there and about 6 months ago, our little gun shop became a dealer for Nivisys.
Since then, we've had several of their products for evaluation and sale. I've been very impressed with the quality of their products and even more so with their customer support.
We are located in Starkville, Mississippi which is centrally located between Memphis, TN, Birmingham, AL and Jackson, MS. with information on the Nivisys line. We will ship out of state, however, we prefer face to face business with our customers. We feel that a thermal can be a large investment and really like to get thermals into the hands of customers to try before they make a decision. We also like to do this in a field environment. So, if you're looking for thermals and really want to see what they're all about before you buy, then come visit us in Starkville, MS and schedule a demo in the field.
So, if the decision between the many brands wasn't already hard enough, now there's one more line to consider.
Again, I wanted to formally introduce and identify myself as a dealer so everyone would know where I stood on future posts.
Thanks,
Dennis
