I had the pleasure of shooting out at Fort Gordon's rifle range the other day; marked distances out to 800 yards and a target stand/steel plate (3'x3' I believe) at 960 yards. They have a variety of targets to use, including some small tombstone reactive poppers and covered wood/concrete benches to shoot from, or you can shoot prone next to your station. It was my first time shooting past 678 yards and was a good lesson in wind and mirage, for sure. I managed to put 8 out of 20 rounds on steel at 960 with my .243 Win. shooting 105 gr. AMAXes, in 10-15 mph winds with a swirl/crosswind at 700-800 yds. I had 8.2 mrad elev. dialed, but should have given it .2-.3 more, and was holding anywhere from 1-2.5 mrad windage. It was a great time and I recommend anyone in the area, going to check it out.
