You tell me! All stainless, lower tank is about 6" diameter, upper is about 2". The three spigots/toolheads/whatever look they are made to have something lock into them with about a third of a turn.
Pretty sure this is right side up:

Now laying on it's back:

Both ends look like this:

Any ideas?

Was one of the first suggestions, local sheriff says no. Besides, meth cooks usually use disposable stuff since you don't want to get caught with the cooking gear.

Somebody put a lot of time and effort into this thing.

Can't tell you for sure but here goes. The three fittings probably take some kind of gas bottles,if you look on top of the fittings there looks to be a burst disc on each fitting and one on the small chamber.Looking at the ends of the tanks I bet it goes to some kind of furnace or gas fired forge.Looks like burners might screw in there.Might be totally off.

Re: Found this in the woods: What the hell is it?

It looks to be of really high quality (though some of the welds could be better). As a boiler maker you got me you got me scratching my head??? What's around the area?

It does look like a gas forge bracket except for the caps, a forge would have fully threaded and yellow taped connections, unless it was home made and thrown away because of leaks. Kinda weird.

was looking at it again, it might be a part to a still.

Pneumatic reservoir from an old railcar? But it looks homemade.
Could be valuable to someone who's restoring one.

Re: Found this in the woods: What the hell is it?

Did you try a search of the numbers on the tank?! I don't know if it would give you anything other than info on that part itself.

Have to say, my initial thought was the same as some_guy - part of a still.

Re: Found this in the woods: What the hell is it?

From the looks of the three "toolheads" it looks like a portion of a crude inline liquid filling machine. Various size spouts are attached depending on the size container you are filling. Product is pumped through the manifold.

Re: Found this in the woods: What the hell is it?

I can take pics when I get home, but I have a milsurp stove that looks a whole lot like that. Only, mine has a tank on both sides and the burners in the middle. All stainless steel, and runs on regular unleaded gasoline.

Re: Found this in the woods: What the hell is it?

The discoloration (yellow tint) on the 2" outlet / inlet almost looks like from heat source. This Stainless steel fabrication (in the energy sector) is called a separator. Natural Gas (vapors) & liquids through the bottom (6" can)& when heat is applied the gas flows into 2" tube. The (round cap / spigots)have ports (holes) drilled into them, meaing there a liquid product coming from the 2" SS pipe. The angle iron brackets may be mounted onto a wall. The (Spigots / tool heads) would hold final product. I don't have a moonshine rig but I have drank the final product!

Re: Found this in the woods: What the hell is it?

Asked my wife. She is from middle of no where land and knows about stills and stuff, she said it looks like a piece of an auto milker that was used in a still.

Re: Found this in the woods: What the hell is it?

I can tell you right now it wasn't used for natural gas based off of the low quality of some of the welds. The thing hasn't been heated to anything above 200deg. other than the welding process based of off the color. The large chamber had markings on it identifying it as 304ss meaning it cant handle temps past 400-450 deg. for any extended period of time.
