Foundation Stock?

I’m looking to pick up another stock for a build I currently have a couple Manners t4’s and a JAllen I was set to pick up another JAE but then
I started looking at the foundation stocks and I’m thinking of going that way instead anyone have some experience or thoughts that might help me decide.

As usual I can’t put my hands on one so I have to make the best informed decision I can based on reviews and others experience. Thanks

I love mine. They can be milled very accurately to fit any action and do not require bedding. Will give you some extra mass over fiberglass and most of the chassis. I am running a 6mm Creedmoor from Impact Precision. Best shooting rifle I have ever owned or shot. Give Impact a call they usually have a couple of Foundation stocks on hand.

Best stock on the market in my opinion. Not that that means much. Unless you have a need for light weight no-one competes. They are fantastic to deal with too. I've spoken to them two times on the phone. About a month or two apart. The second time I called they answered the phone calling me by name.

I have an exodus light with a TL3 and it’s slightly north of 4lbs. For shooting prone it beats my PRS1 by a mile. The added mass balances a Razor HD gen2 and a 26” marksman contour perfectly.

I had read that but wondering if that is a practical reality (zero shifts when the rifle is left assembled, zero shifts when the rifle is disassembled/reassembled, overall accuracy, etc.). I wonder if anyone has compared bedded vs. non-bedded in the Foundations?

Mine is not bedded, although I’ve thought about a dab in the lug. My daughter was banging 1k yard steel just fine with it 3 weeks ago

You don’t need to bed them. I don’t have one but I shoot with several top PRS shooters in Oklahoma who do use the Foundation stock and none of them have bedded their actions. If you like the look and feel then go for it you won’t be disappointed.

My initial reaction to the price tag was kinda sticker shock too...until I realized that if you want a conventional stock (as opposed to a chassis), by the time you buy a Manners carbon fiber with a mini chassis, you are right at the same place. Honestly, I am still struggling with whether to go with a chassis or conventional stock at this point - just trying to gather as much information as possible in order to make an informed decision. So, another related question... Are there any issues mounting an Area 419 ARCAlock rail to either the Genesis or Exodus models? For instance, I learned a few days ago that the Manners T4 does not allow you to mount the rail all the way back so the front action screw goes through the barricade stop. Both models look like they are flat for the entire length of the foreend but so does the T4...

All Foundation stocks come with an Anschutz rail integrated in the fore end. You can mount dovetail rails over it, but that’s why Foundation offers their own for use with the Anschutz hardware.

A McBros T2k...which is why I was initially leaning toward a chassis but seems like I need more weight forward than I can currently get or that it appears might be possible with an MPA.

Nice, I also have a T2k... one of the few left hand ones they made.

You can definitely get the MPA set up how you want it. A 26-28" MTU will put the center 2-3" forward of the front of the mag well. They also sell a weight kit to modify balance from there.

Also, no matter how much you research, you need to shoot behind them for a few months to really know what you like the best.

Cool system, but in reality you will pretty much never use it for what it was designed to do.

A whole different can of worms, but hard barricade stops (while they can be beneficial for certain situations), are far less versatile than a good bag system. I am not saying they are useless, but for how much you’ll be able to use them, it would be silly to select a chassis/stock around the locking feature alone.

Point being that regular dovetail rails (like the one offered by Foundation or MPA) are more than sufficient for 98% of what you’ll use it for (bipods & tripods). Again, cool system, but really not necessary when talking functionality.

You can also look at the sawtooth rails, there is a cutout for the action screw.

How's the texture on them? They look like they would be slick like a wood stock without checkering.

I haven't held a foundation stock, but the construction kind of reminds me of Micarta, which should have some pretty decent texturing/grip. I can't imagine that it could be any more slick than a McMillan fiberglass stock.

They are Micarta. No issues with slippery-ness

I think they are fantastic.. came from a J-Allen and no regrets. No bedding on mine and no issue with accuracy or RTZ.

They do have a dampening effect over other metal chassis.. my scope bell used to 'ring' like a bell when dry firing with J Allen.. the foundation is just a thud.

I would get the "light" version.. it's milled out in front and back to reduce weight, but you can use those voids to adjust balance by adding your own fill ( lead, epoxy, etc.)

Alright, pulled the trigger on the foundation stock. I’ll report back my thoughts once I get my hands on it. Spoke with the owner today super nice guy, I ask if they would be come out with a stock for the Vudoo action and he said they’re working with Vudoo and should have one available in the very near future!

I went with the genesis light, that’s the reason I call Foundation to fully understand the differences. The Genesis has a wide forward grip I believe it’s 2.6” vs 2.0”. The grip is closer to the trigger on the Exodus, and you can get the butt of the stock with or without the hook. I also picked up the arca rail so I’m looking for the right arca/bipod combo. Area 419’s solution seems to be the direction I’m headed.

Not the best picture but this is the short foundation rail and a RRS ball head and PVA tripod. I went with the short rail because at the time it's what core had in stock and also I still had a pic clamp Atlas. It's gone so I'm thinking about the long rail but not sure if I'll do that or a second short one instead.

I wear a large glove and switched to the Exodus from the Genesis because of the closer trigger to grip distance. Some triggers have the shoe in different locations as well. I'm using a TT Diamond pro curved and find the distance to be good fit for me. The forend is plenty wide for my needs, I would really prefer a width between the two. The fit and finish of the stock is unmatched by anything else I've used as well.

Wish my PRS l1 had the same grip configuration as the Exodus. I’m generally between a medium and large glove and the reach on the exodus to a triggertech is perfect. Wish I could handle a Genesis as well

I’ve had McMillan, Manners and MPA setups and now have 3 Genesis Foundations. In my opinion, the weight, balance and vibration-free feel of the stock make it the best stock on the market for PRS.

I much prefer the wider forend of the Genesis and although people obsess over the distance from grip to trigger, I didn’t notice it on the Exodus stocks I’ve tried.

On my last one, I had John-Kyle skip the hexagonal cutouts to add weight and with the 1.25” barrel the rifle balances perfectly.

extremely happy with my exodus stock. stupid comfortable, balances very nicely with m24 barrel. i love the feel of it. I don't think i'll own anything but foundations for awhile. attached are some pics that you requested

I have three of them, a Genesis and two Exodus, and they are awesome. If I had to pick one I think it would be an Exodus, but the Genesis is growing on me. I don't think either of them will hold you back at all.

You can run an MTU / Heavy Varmint no problem. With a little sandpaper and elbow grease you can open it up a hair to clear a straight 1.25”.
