Out fishing in Mexico in a small boat I caught one of those about that same size. Cool and rare fish to see up close and to catch. The guide freaked out and wanted that fish for meat real bad. He was kinda old and skinny and somehow I got talked into trading my pole for his gaff. He got it in next to the boat. Thankfully his gaff pole was a bit worn because I gaffed the monster real good, resulting in an almost man overboard situation by underestimating the power that fishy had, the only reason I stayed in the boat is the gaff broke off the handle, lol!

Fish got away. He was sad, I was happy to see my wife and kids when I got back.
