Here's a gunsmithing-ish question.

I'm planning on purchasing a 16" heavy barrel for my LMT Defender 2000. I am going to free float it. Can I install a mid-length handguard to make less barrel visible? Or am I stuck with only carbine-length options?

Reasons for why or why not?

Thanks!

Re: Free Float Handguard

this question confuses me, but I think the answer is.....

if you get a low pro gasblock such as the badger micro block you can run any length rail system you wish

Re: Free Float Handguard

The OP could also chop down the FSB to make a low-pro gas block. With some creative Dremel work to cut off the delta ring, that opens up some nice and very easy-to-install options like the Centurion C4 rail system as a possibility.

Re: Free Float Handguard

oyeh you can pimp it like that because i did my Rock River with 16'BRL Yankee Hill diamond specter hand guard with yhm low pro gas block with flip up sights by mag-pul and its bad ass.
