A Bronze Medal with a "V" is of sustenance.

Of course all things are subject to rumor, conjecture and a point of view. Staff duty can make a career.

Cheers,

Pretty impressive.

Senate confirms Petraeus as CIA director
By Jason Ukman

(ALEX WONG/GETTY IMAGES) The Senate on Thursday unanimously confirmed Gen. David H. Petraeus to be the next director of the CIA, putting one of the most decorated soldiers in the U.S. military at the helm of the nation’s preeminent intelligence agency.

Petraeus, currently top commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, is expected to assume the new post in September.

On the Senate floor Thursday, lawmakers lavished praise on Petraeus, describing him as a brilliant tactician whose leadership helped turn the tide against insurgents in Iraq and has helped U.S. and allied forces make considerable gains in Afghanistan.

“At the CIA, he’ll have a chance to take the fight to the enemy in a different way,” said Sen. Lindsay O. Graham (R-S.C.), noting that U.S. intelligence in Afghanistan will play an increasingly important role there as U.S. troops are withdrawn.

Petraeus, said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), will “provide our nation with the very best strategy, tactics, thought and action to keep our nation safe.”

The general’s nomination was approved by a 94 to 0 vote.

On Tuesday, the Senate unanimously confirmed outgoing CIA Director Leon Panetta as the new secretary of defense. The agency’s deputy director, Michael J. Morell, is expected to serve as interim director until Petraeus’s arrival.

So they just award them erroneously? Wiki didn't tell how he earned it. I'm curious.

Upon promotion to lieutenant colonel, Petraeus moved from the office of the Chief of Staff to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he commanded the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)'s 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment from 1991–1993. As battalion commander of the Iron Rakkasans, he suffered one of the more dramatic incidents in his career; in 1991 he was accidentally shot in the chest with an M-16 assault rifle during a live-fire exercise when a soldier tripped and his rifle discharged.[35] He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, where he was operated on by future U.S. Senator Bill Frist. The hospital released him early after he did fifty push ups without resting, just a few days after the accident.[36][37]</div></div>
