I'm considering a GAP-10 G2 or JP LRP-07/LRI-20 and would appreciate your feedback.

I will primarily be using it for long distance shooting and hunting (whitetail & an occasional elk). Which leads me to my second inquiry about the optimum caliber. I'm thinking either .308 or 6.5 creedmore but am wondering if a 6.5 is adequate for elk.

Thanks!

I would recommend a 22" barrel for hunting. Nice balance between velocity and length.

The 6.5 Creedmoor with a Berger, Hornady, or Nosler bullet no elk hit in the vitals will survive. The impact velocity will be higher with the Creedmoor vs a 308 and generally will result in a faster kill. With modern bullets the 6.5 creedmoor killing power on elk is similar to the older bullets like in the 270 win 20+ years ago.

I really don't think that you could go wrong with either, I think the JP probably can be tuned to run a little smoother that that GAP, but I really like the barrels that they use on their builds. Thats not to say that JP does not make a great barrel. Just that GAP, has a lot of chambers that are not available with the JP.

My GAP10G2 in 260 was a laser, but so is the JP 6.5cm barrel on my Mega Maten with JP VMOS-H BCG and SCS. Both rifles are 100% reliable.
Pretty much cannot go wrong with any of the 3 rifles mentioned above, GAP, JP or Seekins.

+1 for the LRI-20

The below target was shot from a LRI-20 with a 24" Proof Carbon 6cm barrel. It was the try shot (1st shot) at 900 yards while running Franks weaponized math. 10-15 mph sustained winds with gusts in the 20s. JPs may cost a little more but its worth every penny.

The next 3 shot group was shot with a older JP PSC-12 in 260 rem, JP factory gun with JP barrel @ 900 yards.

Buy JP with confidence. Just as others have said, you can always buy the JP semi-auto chassi system and pick whatever barrel you want for it. Only reason I didn't do another JP barrel is I wanted to try a proof carbon barrel for its slight weight reduction.

Very impressive. Any thoughts on the LRI-20 vs LRP-07?
