GA Precision PPR

What’s everyone’s opinion on the pinnacle production rifle from GA Precision? I’ve got a couple custom builds off bighorn actions that are my open class rigs, but I sorta want to go back to production class just for shits and gigs since it’s way less stress.

I don't know anything about production class but I bought mine because it was a GAP rifle at a good price. It shoots great and performs 100%. I don't like the stock's grip angle, but I wouldn't have known that unless I bought one and spent some time behind it, so not a knock on them for that. Not sure what to say but if you have anything more specific I can try and answer it.

It's a GAP. It will shoot. They are only prices so low because GAP makes em in batche 1 time a year with only options on caliber. Saves set up time, tooling changes and in the long run money. If I ever had cash when they where taking orders I'd have one.

That will probably be the hardest part, keeping the cash available when needed. I know GAP builds some wicked stuff and it would be awesome to see what a smith built rig can do.

It's probably the smartest buy to get, why pay $5k when you can pay $2.5k

This race to the Production class is a great thing for shooters, even if you don't compete. They cut the profits way down to get these out the door and within spec

if you want a custom and they make a "production" rifle you are probably saving a ton of money

That’s what keeps drawing me in, an essentially custom rig with a sku number and I can play in production class if I want or just throw on a different barrel once the 6Creed is cooked to shoot open. Plus it could make a great loner rig to have buddies use to get them involved with the sport.

These three groups were shots 17-28 through the gun. Was getting cold and dark so had to leave and will continue later.

Already planning for another next year.

Edit: the loads shown below are all off by .1 high. It should be 35.2, .3 and .4.

Every GAP I have shot has been a hammer. I plan to get one someday. It will probably be a PPR, tho the Rock was my first dream rifle...

I got out and shot I gain today to finish up my first 50 rounds. Basically I initially loaded up five rounds each of RL16 starting at 35.0 grains and doing .1 increments to 35.9. The lowest I use for initial shots and cleaning then shot the above groups. Today I shot four each of 35.5-35.9.

Nothing shot more than .55” in the entire batch. Here are the five four shot groups today.

Having mucked around for a while, trying different rifles and such, I think if I could go back in time and buy a PPR I would do so. I'm putting a 6mm Creed barrel on a rifle now... and that rifle cost considerably more than the PPR. Yes, it's on a W-3, and that's nice, but I really like the Manners T2, particularly the GAP version.

I’ve got a 6Creed built off a Origin and a dasher/308 off a TL3 both in PRS1’s which cost more then the PPR. If I could go back in time, I’d definitely play around with the PPR instead of doing basement smithing to chase my tail.

For a new guy who is not sure what he wants they are a good buy. Many won't like the stock so they want either a chassis or something like a foundation/TCS.

Its not a full custom fitted barrel, its a prefit. They are just able to order in such a volume at a time they can bring the price down, while putting their rifles out there as marketing.

Its a $2900 gun for $2500 for someone who can spend 10 minutes screwing a barrel on and torquing a few screws. Assuming you love the stock its a good deal but you still need to add brake, Arca rail, weights, mags, QD cheekrest knob, ect. They also want $820 for a pre-fit replacement which is at the high end.

I almost bought one the last 2 years but decided to get what I want instead of settling for this. Plus production class is looked at as retard class to most shooters. Just shoot open with your gun.

I recently took delivery of a PPR in 6 Creedmoor and this gun SHOOTS. After some light break in loads I shot these 2 groups one right after the other using Berger’s factory loads with the 105 grain Hybrids.
