May be relocating to Gaithersburg MA for work. What are some options for long range Shooting..if any? I'm from Los Angeles and I am very spoiled with multiple ranges from 100 to 1500 yards 20 to 30 minutes drive.

I think granby is the only one in MA that has any distance. I moved out 4 years ago but at that time they only had the range open to 500 yards due to problems with some anti-gun neighbors. Used to be 1000 yards. No idea if that issue is resolved yet. Ridgeline and NH and the sig academy are also up north but I'm not sure if they're open to the public.

First, I don’t have an answer to your question.

Second, pardon my ignorance but I’ve never associated Los Angeles with multiple ranges to accommodate the long-range addict...especially within a 30-minute drive (which is, what, only a few miles in that traffic?). I have upcoming work travel to LA...now I’m thinking about bringing along a rifle...what range(s) stretch out to 1500 yards?

Dam that's 385 miles away from Gaithersburg....no weekly shooting there for me

Gaithersburg MA (which I can’t find that it exists) or Gaithersburg MD which is about 10 miles up the road from me.

Peacemaker NTC is not too far away. (82 miles) There are also some farmers around there with private ranges that provide access to instructors. If you look for NRA accredited instructors that teach long range classes you may find some gems.

Peacemaker is the closest range, but they recently more than doubled the price of a memberahip (went from $200 yearly to $480), and they long range ranges aren't open on most weekends, usually only on Wednesdays.

I've let my membership lapse and at this point probably won't re-new it.

@NovaHunter, I like shooting there but I agree that the membership plan is not super friendly to the shooter that only want to use their long distance range. Every weekend shoot there is an extra 40-50$ on top of the annual membership cost. I also question the value.

Lolol ok then you have some more options. Mayberry Game and Protective Association is in MD and goes out to 600. New Holland pistol and rifle club in Gap, PA has a 700 yard range. Mifflin county sportsman’s in Lewistown, PA goes out to 1000. MGPA is about an hour from Gaithersburg. NHPRC and MSCA are 2-2.5 hours. I’m a member at MSCA and we get a lot of guys that drive from MD, NJ and NY. It’s a great range but it’s gonna be a bit of a hike for you.
HI my friend - isn't Mifflin a member only club or can one come up and pay for a day on the range?

Mayberry Game and Protective Association
And....looking at their site, they seem to have changed their name to Maryland Game and Protective Association....yeah?

Edit - er, perhaps not. Maryland...etc is in Perry Hall on the north side of Baltimore and Mayberry is in Westminster which is northwest of Baltimore.

P.S.S. - actually, this doesn't make a lot of sense....did they move??? From Westminster to Perry Hall....or???

P.S.S.S - ah...never mind. The outfit in in Perry Hall is the Maryland State Game and Fish Protective Association.....and Mayberry (or Marland) Game Protective Assn is indeed in Westminster. Very minimal website. And, it appears that in addition to dues:

"Additionally, each member is expected to contribute 20 hours of volunteer time. There are three primary ways to achieve this: 1) volunteer at least 20 hours for work on a committee, 2) contribute to fundraising by selling raffle tickets (currently valued at 1 hr. per $25 of raffle ticket sales), or 3) a combination thereof."
So, if not living reasonably close by (and for me its 50-55 miles from Rockville) this may be a challenge. And, you need an existing member to sponsor you....but, again, no contact info on webpage that I can find

Shame, that's not too far away for a day of shooting but.....seems like joining would have some challenges.

Unfortunately it is members only but you don't need a sponsor to join and its a flat $120/year I believe. Not too bad to a 1000 yard range and its one of the few in the northeast. Which is why we get a number from people from up north.

That is very affordable and as much as maybe just three trips to the commercial range, “Delmarva”

thanks and I hope it works out to see you maybe Tues evening if the clinic.

Yea it’s a pretty good deal. And yes I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to stop by. Looking forward to it.
