Hey Guys, I bought this lift from Sportsman's Guide, well made too, anyway what is this part for #3 circled in red?

i would assume its a place to tie off a rope if your not using the rachet

That makes sense! but calling it a "Bending Plate" unless they misprinted and meant "Binding" Plate.
It's named Bending Plate in the other sections of the instructions too.
