Gander Outdoors drops AR-15 rifles?

Went to one this evening in Wisconsin. I really liked this store because they had decent quality stuff, especially guns. Not just the big box Tupperware rifles.
Wanted to look at a specific AR I’ve been eyeing. I get there and they have only 5 ar’s total, and the clerk said they weren’t ordering any more. Then tried to sell me on one of the 5 they had. Told him they are dead to me. WTF?!? Doesn’t anyone have the balls to stand up to those liberal assholes anymore??

Just spoke to another clerk, he said they were clearing out for new spring inventory, but not getting out of AR’s. So I guess I’m not sure what to believe.

Besides, plenty of online vendors happily carry AR-15's of all calibers and styles. Choose to your heart's desire...

Both of the ones near me closed because the locations didn't allow for the sale of campers. Might have moved but I can't be bothered to find out where to.

They are going out of business left and right. Perhaps that location is also and they are reducing inventory and not restocking.

I was in the market for a camp tlr. and happened to go into a G.O. store. Had a lot of stuff. After the wife and I left, went to dinner and got talking with a couple at a table next to us, said G.O. did shady shit and to be careful and read the fine print. Mac

I have a strong feeling that more people are actually building them than buying stock rifles. Whether complete lowers or 80's, 70's, etc... The AR-15 has evolved into a popular "project gun" that is far more fun to put together from various scratch components into a custom gun that you can be even more proud of owning. The AR market is still enormous, but more emphasis is being put on those who are building and customizing their rifles.

Gander Outdoors is closing stores that cannot house their RV Lines. The big cheese wanted to have the outdoor retail space, but only if the space can sell all his RV areas.

The store by me, is gone... Everything Marked down 50% off of current sale price.. some at 70%!

All the Guns were 20% off... but if they don't sell they were going to transfer to other stores that were to remain open. Several of the workers were going to buy the AR's as they get the 20%off, 15%off Member and another Employee discount.

I have built every AR I have ever owned with the exception of one that got stripped down and reconfigured since the early 90's.
It kind of baffles me that everyone doesn't do the same, get It exactly how you want or need it from the start instead of what someone else thinks is best for you.

I agree with that one. I wanted a "retro" rifle when I did mine and at the time, building was the only way to go. Brownells hadn't done their deal with NoDak Spud (who made my receivers) to sell their products yet, nor had they started their own breed of retro guns with their AR-10 clones, and Troy hadn't come out with theirs, either. But building was way more fun and I ended up with a rifle and carbine I was happy with (and gave a vet gunsmith my business, which is always a plus in my book). Buying an off-the-shelf repro doesn't have the same feel as a built-up USGI-parts rifle. Add the precision game and those who want a unique tactical rifle and the appeal of off-the-shelf ARs is somewhat less.
