Gap-10 gas block?

Im looking at a Gap-10 chambered in. 308. I will be shooting predominantly with a Thunderbeast 30-ba can. With an 18 inch barrell do I need an adjustable gas block? I've read a few posts on here that have listed issues without the Noveske adjustable block. The reason I'm bringing this up is because the info I'm finding is sporadic. For the most accurate info I wanted to centralize the data.

I spoke to Dustin several days ago about this issue. He said yes, if you are mainly shooting suppressed it would benefit you to get one. Less blockback, recoil, and less wear on BCG.

I have a GAP-10 with the standard gas block. I don't shoot it suppressed. I spoke with Ken at GAP and he said in order to get the switchblock installed, it would require a complete new barrel. It's also a $260 up-charge. But he also said he has heard from a lot of their customers that shoot suppressed with the standard gas block and report no issues. The Switchblock would have been nice to have since you can also turn it off. If it were an option when I ordered mine, I would have gotten it with the switchblock, but my GAP-10 is still the best shooting gun I have. Just my $0.02

Everyone I talk to runs w/o the switch block but GAP recommends them so when I just ordered my new gap10 upper I also opted for it ($210 I believe) just to be safe.
Swapping barrels on a gap 10 is pretty damn expensive, I checked on it.

Thanks for the info....but I guess since my fucking stamp is still being <span style="font-style: italic">processed</span> by the feds I am still waiting to try it out. I did talk to Ken about shooting suppressed when ordering mine to make sure it would be good to go. Cannot WAIT!

Dude you can adjust the existing gass block on the GAP 10 for your can . Use an Allen wrench and shoot until you get it to cycle reliably and accurately , the switch block is nice but the existing one on my gap 10 is better for accuracy . At least in my case. I shoot a 65 creed

yeah you can, but it really isn't meant to be adjusted if memory serves. It should be lok-tited in place and not moved around. Somebody help me out here if I am wrong.

By stocking I mean they have them in stock, I'm sure it is an optional upgrade for anyone wanting to run their rifle suppressed.

I had GAP install the Noveske gas block. In my mind, it just gives me more options. I'll be running a TB 30P-1 often, but my damn tax stamp is taking forever. Also, once you get the can, GAP prefers that you send the can and the upper in for proper tuning. Can't be that customer service. Dustin has been my POC at GAP for this purchase and has walked me through all the options very patiently. I can't say enough good things about the support GAP is giving to their builds.

The advice for adjusting the gas system on the original GAP 10 was given to me by George himself. so you can adjust them, tune them to your suppressor or load. I had to in order not to destroy my upper and lower. just do not use RED lock tight!

switch blocks are not necessary, but do reduce the back pressure. all suppressors are different some create little to no back pressure, some create a lot. We do not recommend them, but offer them as an option to the guys that want them. Unfortunately its not a retrofit as the tube is a different design and longer in length. so a barrel change is necessary. 90 % of guys are not having any issues but probably have to clean there rifles a little more often.

They cost $210 and most rifles don't need them. I'm all for making $$ but I'm not going to sell something to somebody that does not need it

No Hannibal, mine was built in Nov. 2011 before they had them. Ken's word was all I needed that it is good to go without switchblock.I ordered a SAS Arbiter Titanium with quick detach mount.
