Well after months and months of procrastinating and "mulling" it over, I'm about two steps shy from taking the plunge and placing an order for a GA Precision AR-10.

I'm just waiting to hear from George one last time concerning a couple of things and we should be good to go.

For the guys that have them already, how do they measure up? I know, from reading the posts here that GAP builds an exceptional product but I'd like to hear first hand how this thing runs and even more so how some of you guys have it set up.

Right now, I'm looking at:

DPMS Upper and Lower
20" barrel
Magpul PRS stock
Harris HBLM-S Bipod
Tan in color

Still haven't decided on the handguards, BUIS and the glass. In that respect though I've been leaning toward something in the NF family.

Any suggestions, help?

Re: GAP AR-10

If you go with a DPMS build in NYS, you won't be able to legally obtain any current production magazines over ten rounds unless you are LEO. Armalite still produces post ban 20 round magazines but they appear to be out of stock at the moment. My local gun store has plenty of 20 rd DPMS and Magpul mags, in the LEO only counter...

Lucky for me I can shop that counter.

Re: GAP AR-10

that is pretty much the same set-up as I have on my GAP SASS with the DD Rails and MAGPul PRS stock. You will love the rifle as they are shooters. Mine has the Bartlein 5R MTU barrel 1:11 twist rate. The trigger breaks at 2.5 lbs and very crisp. You will like it. Glass is totally up to you and it depends on how money you have to spend. If you go for an upper level Nightforce SFP I would suggest that you look at a Vortex Razor FFP for just a couple of hundred more. It is a nice scope as I have one on my GAP M40A3. You can also look at the new Vortex PSt's coming out soon too.

You have described the one I have to a "T". Daniel Defense Handguards and you're GTG. It's a fantastic piece that is reliable as well as accurate. You will not be disappointed.

Re: GAP AR-10

Flounder builds one hell of a precision AR, your only disappointment will be that you didn't pull the trigger months ago. Once your a couple months into your wait, you're gonna be sitting there saying "I coulda had it by now if just...." to yourself.

Re: GAP AR-10

Well I just called and spoke to Kerry. They're not taking any orders as of now but I was put on a "waiting list". He said he'd call me back in about a month or so. Hope they don't forget.

Re: GAP AR-10

I had them build one for me a couple years ago on a Fulton lower since I'm in California, I also went with the DD rails and Magpul PRS. If I was building one now though I would go with an Iron Ridge Arms upper and lower, you can go with either DPMS or Armalite pattern and the upper has 23 moa built in.

Re: GAP AR-10

Skip the PRS Stock. I would recommend that you try before you buy. I did not like the unit. Much prefer the standard A2 buttstock.

Me too. If you will fire the rifle prone, your scope will need to be quite a bit forward to the extent the cheekpiece forbids a cheekweld that is forward enough to be right. With the right rings the A2 works though an extended rail might help.
Mine's an Panther LR308(but with a 6.5x47 barrel ;))
