GAP10 caliber question

I am trying to come up with a final decision for Caliber. I will be shooting to 1k and perhaps more if the round will do it. I decided to go with the 6.5 round, the question is case. Can folks give a Pro/Con to these 3 rounds?

Remingtion 260
6.5x47 Lapua
6.5 Creedmor

Any help is appreciated.

The Lapua is going to be the top performer. The Remington .260 will be the easiest to find. The 6.5 Creedmor isn't widely available as of yet from what I've seen. Any of the above will get you to 1000yds.

I don't know if the demigod article is the whole answer for a GAP10. I'd call GAP and ask them if any of the three have an advantage in the autoloader from the standpoint of feeing reliably and such.

Yes, I read on the Hide where George is recommending on the 6mm Creedmoor in the GAP-10. That is why I ordered one in that caliber. The OP was asking about 6.5 mm calibers and that is why I directed him to those articles.

I would go with the 6.5 Creedmoor for higher velocities than the 6.5x47, and slightly more efficient powder to velocity burn than the 260 Rem. Plus the 6.5 Creedmoor works well in a gas gun and out of DBMs.

Everyone talks about the great Lapua brass, and I like using that for my bolt guns. But for a gas gun, it will tear up your brass, and at least to me it isn't worth the extra money to get limited brass life in a gas gun.

Perhaps, I do. I am referring to local gun shops here in Tulsa that I use. Obviously, any ammo a person wants can be found online.

Out of those 3 for a GAP 10 I would choose this order:

1. 6.5 creedmoor
2. 260 remington
3. 6.5x47 lapua

If money was no object and you actually like to reload, check out the 6mm creedmoor.

+1...just ordered my GAP10 in 6.5cm, you can use Hornady brass if you reload unlike the limited brass available for a .260 (not had much luck with Rem .260 brass and the Laupa brass, in my opinion, is too nice to run through a gas gun).

I have a 260 and it is awesome but when I shoot it out I think I will go 6 creedmore or just get both ! Hell it's only money u can't take it with you

There is zero performance difference so why pay over $1 a round for brass that is going to be destroyed in only a few firings?

The 6.5CM is perfect in the GAP-10.
260 would be my second choice.

If those two didn't work, I wouldn't shoot a 6.5. But since I've had both calibers in an AR platform (including a GAP-10), I know they both work extremely well.

A GAP10 is my next rifle to order. Mostly I shoot my 5.56mm AR and .22LR (ammo is dirt cheap and it's fun). I'm going to probably go with the 6MM that GAP owner recommends, but I don't reload (yet!) so I may go with whatever ammo is easier to get.

I'm NO expert, but it seems like it's a preference and all 3 of these cartridges are good choices, depending on one's individual needs.

If George recommends 6.5CM.. then that sounds like the way to go. The GAP10 is his rifle after all. Plus several folks seem to think so as well.

Doh .. mis-quote, thanks for the clarification. Ill have to read up on that and see what the ballistics are. I tried a few times this week to get through to GAP but wasn't successful. Ill give it a shot next week.
