I've tried but apparently Google is confused and thinks I'm shopping...

I had a couple failures where the round did not feed or only partially fed into the chamber in my Garand Sat. I've never had an issue w/the rifle before and am looking for a little help.

The rifle was clean and greased in all the right places etc. The ammo was Greek surplus which has shot really well in the past. I thought I'd read somewhere that the Greek enblocs were the culprit. My smith remembered something similar but is like me and can't remember where he heard it. In the article I swear there were a couple pics showing how you can tell the difference in the different enbloc manufacturers. I've got plenty of enblocs and would switch the ammo over but can't find any info. Does anyone remember seeing this before?

Re: Garand enbloc question

I have run over 1,200 rounds of the Greek HXP M2 ball out of my SA Garand without any issues and it was all on the Greek enbloc clips.

The best way to rule out the Greek enblocs as the culprit is to switch 40 rounds or so over to other enblocs that you know to have worked in your rifle in the past and see if that eliminates your FTFeed issues.

Re: Garand enbloc question

I'll give it a shot. I noticed that one of the enblocs that jammed on me was more narrow at the front. It sprung closed to where it was just a little wider then one case width. At first I thought the RO or I had stepped on it (multigun match) but it didn't look like it.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to hit the range one day after work and see what happens.

Re: Garand enbloc question

Some rifles may have problems with the greek clips but mine don't. I've read the clips are made different than the old GI M1 clipss and will work with HXP because the HXP case rim is different than our GI ammo rims. However, I'm reloading civilian brass and using it in my M1 with the greek clips and not having any issues.

If you're having feeding issues the easiest thing to do is change clips if you have some USGI clips. My M1 was a greek rack grade from the CMP and it had feed issues when I got it. I changed out some parts (bullet guide, follower arm, main spring and cured that (on round three the bolt would try to ride up over the cartridge and jam) and then toss out the clip and round number 8 as the case from round 7 ejected.)

Take your rifle someplace where you can point the muzzle in a safe direction, put the safey "on", load a full clip and hand cycle the rounds through it to see if you can see anything going on.

If not you can always check out...http://www.fulton-armory.com/tea/m1.htm or http://www.fulton-armory.com/tea/tm9-1275.htm

Re: Garand enbloc question

Look at the letters on the back of the enblocs, get you some Borg Warner USGI enblocs, there is an internet site that shows all the letter codes for enblocs. I believe Borg Warners have BGW stamped on them.
