I don’t see myself replacing my 701 anytime soon but I didn’t know they had made an updated version. @Garmin how is this different from the 701 besides obvious construction differences

I haven't compared the 701 to the 901, but the up time from the 601 to the 801 has doubled ...

    The major differences are:
    Improved display
    Improved battery life
    Dual Frequency GNSS
Works with inReach, Xero A1 and X1 product families, AB Synapse - Garmin app and the rest of the AB ecosystem devices.
    Stealth Mode
    Kill Switch

How does it work with inreach? What all connects? Will it make a explorer+ interface work any differently?

You can pair it with any device that is "inReach Remote compatible" and then you can view and send messages from the Foretrex. You can also initiate an SOS from the Foretrex.

inReach Remote Compatible devices are inReach Mini 2, inReach Messenger, GPSMAP 86sci and Montana 700i.

@Garmin is it possible to connect/pair this with a Kestrel to update the weather info in the AB Solver? Also are there plans for additional rangefinders to be compatible? I'm looking for the Leica 2800.COM / 3200.COM series.

Yes, this does pair with the Kestrel the same way the Tactix 7 does. As for new rangefinder support, the Foretrex will support anything that is added to the AB ecosystem.

I have the foretrex 901, I am curious could you give me details on how, I can have my Kestrel Elite Ballistics pair to my garmin Foretrex 901? I have gotten them to connect, however how do I get them to interact or share data? I feel like ive tried everything and there is not much info on garmins website besides some vague instruction. Im looking specifically to get these 2 to interact, mainly for wind information to the garmin from the kestrel.

A quick follow up, I am currently looking at the manual and it states:
APPLIED BALLISTICSYou can use Applied Ballistics® devices, such as rangefinders or wind sensors, and view additional ballistics information on your navigator. https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/web...UID-F5B80B93-D5F7-44FE-9971-203BC35D5814.html

I have gone through many of the menus and I was able to see the Kestrel 5700 Elite Ballstics, being detected by the Garmin foretrex 901and was even able to pair the 2 or connect them however I am not able to pull any weather or winds from the Kestrel as far as I know. Thanks.

Will this unit allow for putting a wind azimuth instead of a clock value?

Would like it to apply wind azimuth to multiple DOFs.

Multiple target cards that could be made from the Garmin synapse app and uploaded would be nice too.
