Just got this Geissele email and I wanted to share this with everyone here who didn't get the email. Geissele is helping Samaritan's Purse charitable organization raise money for the hurricane victims and 100% of the money raised is going to charity! Geissele is also giving away 10 of their rifles and they created donation packages that give you rifle raffle tickets AND a free Geissele AR15 trigger! It's a win/win all around, and it's a pretty great deal if you want to help donate money to the hurricane victims and get a new trigger for your rifle.

A $20 donation gets you 1 ticket for the rifle raffle, a free Geissele hat, and free bottle of of ALG Go-Juice

A $100 donation gets you 5 tickets for the rifle raffle and a free Geissele SSA trigger

A $160 donation gets you 8 tickets for the rifle raffle and a free Geissele SSA-E trigger

A $200 donation gets you 10 tickets for the rifle raffle and a free Geissele SSA-EX trigger

The most important part is that 100% of the funds raised goes directly to Samaritan's Purse to help the hurricane victims! Right now it sounds like Geissele and Samaritan's Purse are doing more to help the hurricane victims than FEMA, so please donate if you're able to! This fundraising drive ends October 11th, which is this Friday.

Indeed, outstanding, just donated. This is one heck of a step up to help, those folks need help.

I hearby pledge that if I'm fortunate to win a rifle, I will ask Geissele to hold it and raffle off with all proceeds going to the same charity.
They (SP) have better buying power to maximize goods and services to those in need.

Not to poop on anyones parade but do you realize that you are funding their tax deductions by giving to a company (raffle) instead of directly to a charity.

I would imagine that most people would be aware of this.

Yes, Geissele gets a tax deduction. You get a trigger for a big discount. And the proceeds go towards charity benefiting the people afflicted by Helene.

So what you're telling me, is everybody wins, except the IRS?
And this is somehow a... bad thing??

I believe he's inferring that if you go through Geissele, they get the tax deduction, not you.

You can donate directly to a charity and claim the tax deduction, you just don't get a heavily discounted Geissele trigger in return and a chance at any of the ar-15s being raffled.

It's nothing nefarious on Geissele's end, but if you would prefer the tax donation, go directly to the charity.

I was under the impression itemized deductions got bent over a few years back and it's not particularly beneficial unless you have serious amounts of stuff you can write off. Enough to out pace a standard deduction for your tax class.

    I think you are right.

Anyways, I got a SSA-E trigger and a few chances at a Geissele AR15, and that money is being put towards a great cause.

I'm pretty happy about that exchange.

Yep, I donate tens of thousands of dollars to 501c3 charities (Scout Sniper Association and Marine Scout Sniper Heritage Foundation) each year, and I don't get much of a deduction compared to what I donated. My best advice for people is to just donate to causes that they're interested in, and not worry about tax deductions. File paperwork for your tax deductions, but the deductions don't matter, just focus on helping the charities that you want to help.

Looks like it is over for now.
Found this response from Geissele on Reddit:

"The overnight response was absolutely incredible. The inventory we had slated for a full week for this promotion was claimed in 24 hours. We are gathering more information as we speak. Stay tuned"

Sadly, a lot of people are not aware of this "scam" or shell game or whatever you want to call it..
I really don't like it when companies ask you for donation in their names to give to a third party as I consider it a scummie business practice.

It may not be my money but I do like people to know where their money really goes.

Too many so called "charities" out there

This is a fucked up statement. While this could be true, they are also loosing out on sales of their triggers, that sell for much more than they are being offered into the raffle.

Do you think Giessele is making more of a tax deduction than they are taking a loss from operating their shop, running machines, paying workers, packaging, shipping and giving 100% of the proceeds away. I can guarenfuckingtee you they are taking a much bigger loss than any tax benefit from this. Then they are giving away 10 more rifles.

Bill probably donates $250-500K in gear per year at local matches. And i might be throwing out very conservative numbers, its probably much greater. Just gives it away. Also lets us use his world class shooting range/entire mountain valley for free. Let me guess he is a greedy asshole for writing those losses off too?

People like you should shut the fuck up unless you understand what you are talking about.

Sadly you wont shut the fuck up. Bill is not making any money from this venture. He is taking a loss ANYWAY you want to cut it. Any difference in money is going to victims instead of the IRS or PA commonwealth. Its still coming out of his pocket and going to victims.

Its only a donation in the sense that he is selling you a product bellow market value, and using all that money to donate to victims. Even if the COGS for a SSA trigger is $50, that is still -$50 each trigger donated/bought. I am sure there would be a small tax offset but its not a 100% write off. And even if it was, who gives a fuck. Its a way to get money into the hands of people who need it. There is still the loss of machine time for a company that is fucking drowning in US government contracts, and cant make guns fast enough. You think spending a limiting resource like machine time on hurricane victims instead of making guns already sold under contract is not a loss?
