Incase anyone is interested, some K31's are popping up.

Aim has them for ~$300 depending on the stock. Your chance to get the the most accurate standard service rifle ever made. The machining and craftsmanship, attention to detail and quality is really is impressive. Surplus match quality duty ammo is $.50/rnd. Ballistics that mirror .308. Whats not to love.

I totally agree with everything Cobracutter says. I am primarily a mil surp collector and Swiss weapons, rifles, pistols and recovers are my favorites. The K31 family is every bit as accurate as Cobracutter says. I own 6 K31's 1 walnut stock, 1 beech stock, a k31/42 sniper 2 K31/ZFK aka K31/55 snipers and 1 Hammerlli K31. The GP 11 ammo is match quality and @ 50 cents a round is a real bargain. I just talked my brother in law into buying Aim's K31 and GP11 ammo. The only thing I don't like about Aim's K31's is the mandated billboard is on the top rear of the receiver according to the picture posted on their site.
I don't know how true this is but i have heard this is the last big import of K31's. I'd get one and the ammo now at a great price while they last.

I got mine for 89 ten years ago.
It wasn't an AIM import and the import mark is subtle on the barrel.
Such a shame to deface them.
I live those match sights Buffalowinter!

My BIL just got his hand select from AIM. Unfortunately the screw in front of the trigger guard had a snapped off head. He was able to get the remainder of the screw out. I told him to call AIM and notify them of the problem and told him they would most probably make it good. So much for hand select.

I have had three over the years, all very accurate. The wolf gold line and PPU brass is reloadable, I standard 308 charge with a 147-150 gr bullet makes a nice, shoot all day and not hurt your shoulder for a week round.
They were more fun when the K31 were only 100 bucks though.

I picked up this jewel a few years ago:

It is a dream to shoot this rifle. It is one of my favorites!!!!!

Looking up cartridge details, I see that the nominal bullet diameter is .306... yet a quick glance around Midway and Graf's shows no bullets available in that diameter. Can .308 pills be substituted?

Simpson Ltd has had a huge amount of stock of K31s for a long time if you find that any of the other online retailers sell out. Their descriptions are very accurate and the prices aren't bad either. I plan on getting a set of the Swiss Products diopter sights for mine. They are very cool rifles with a level of craftsmanship that is damn near extinct in high production number rifles.

To answer BurnOut's question, the bubbas that are handloading this cartridge are using .308 diamerter projectiles.
