ok, i have a rockchucker, scales, dies, trimmer, powder measure and countless other things. i have 700 rounds once fired lake city brass, another 600 WRA i need to sell and 150 hornady and black hills match. id like a set of precision dies, but im good with what i have. i am thinking about 4895 powder, but recently someone suggested 4350. i am loading 168g hpbt match from various makers. first 100 is speer. any thoughts?

What exactly are you looking for?

How to load?

Two things I would personally do, first, use just one type of bullet and one kind of brass, swapping and flopping will make your life difficult. I am new to reloading but this and the two above links have helped me greatly.

I am working up loads with IMR 4895 and things look very promising, RL-15 and Varget are other perennial favorites here.

just an opinion on the powder. i heard that 4350 fills the case more, but thats all i know about any of this. i think i have the reloading process down. the commercial brass i figure i will load to 38 grains of 4895 with the speers and sight the rifle in. then i plan on using the 600 rounds of lake city after working up a load. i dont have enough commercial brass, so the match stuff is what i an going to use to shoot at matches on the weekends. the speer was all that was available, i would have chosen sierra, but they were out of stock. any bullet preferences?

I am currently working loads up with 168 Amax bullets, but the Lapua Sencars and Sierra Matchkings are also favorites. I would see what you can do with those Speer bullets, at worst you have a bunch of plinking ammo.

38 grns seems a bit slow IMO, I started at 41 and am using a load right now that runs 43.3grns.

4350 too slow for 308

With LC brass, I recommend 44.4grs of Varget with a 168 Amax and WLR primer, 2.8" OAL.

If you're planning on long distance, I'd recomend 178 Amax's or the 155's. I know the 178's will out perform the 168's and from what I've been told, the 155's will too. Just starting to try the 155's myself but I stoped buying the 168's quite a while back. JMHO.
