owned one, it was a fine bipod. I didnt like the legs and how their smooth, sorta like non notched harris legs, a real PITA to adjust while in the prone but its solid. Its not worth the price in my opinion tho

I have one and I really like it. I have only previously had experience with Harris or Stoney Point bipods, and the GG&G feels much more stable and solid when I am shooting it.
I agree that it would be much more functional with notched legs, but the fully collapsed height of the legs fits me pretty well so I don't have to worry about it.

I have owned all three: The GGG, Harris and now own an Atlas...The Atlas is heads above the other two. Not that the GGG and Harris are bad, the Atlas is better built, feels sturdier and IMO will be better in the long run.

For a 190 bucks why not just get the Atlas. I cant say that the GG&G are bad but I can say that once i got my atlas, it is the only bipod i use. sometimes i am stuck using my harris and its night and day difference.

I had one and I upgraded to the Atlas. Spend a little more money and get th Atlas. You'll be glad you did.

I have the Atlas and the Harris and while the Atlas is certainly more compact and nicer looking, I was not blown away by it. If price is a factor, just get a Harris. Otherwise, get the Atlas.

I have the GG&G and love it, though it only sees use on my AR platform rifles. It's light, has the nice feature of being able to lock your cant, and installs/removes quickly.
I agree the Atlas is better overall, but I don't think you'd be disappointed with the GG&G.

I had standard and heavy duty GG&Gs on some tactical bolt guns and Atlas' on my ARs (5.56; 6.5 Grendle; large frame .308 Monolith). I thought both worked well. On the other hand I found the Atlas rubber shod feet made the tripods much easier to load on smooth surfaces (bench, concrete, etc) and made for a much more stable platform. I swapped an Atlas onto my LR bolt gun and found it made a huge difference in how well I could load and stabilize the rifle.
Now I've got Atlas' on all my serious rifles (including an Anschutz trainer).
I have ordered the NEW GG&G 'pod that allows 45 degree forward deployment as well as vertical and comes with rubber shod feet. I plan to try this on a Chad Dixon 260 I've got coming. Not sure why I did this except to say I seem to be a bit of a tripod whore and am always looking for the next good thing.

I purchased the Heavy Duty XDS model directly from GG&G a few years ago. I have one and it actually like it better than the Atlas. The GG&G feels for durable and pretty sturdy. I always feel like i am going to break the Atlas every time i use it.

I had basic Harris and gave it to my friend. Atlas is way superior. Cants, pans and stays at the angle where you want it. Once you got your bubble right you can forget about it unless you change position. Adjustable movement tension is just adorable. For people who prefer to load bipod it has great spring feeling. There is a little play in the legs (back-forward) but I do not see how it can harm. Comes in very handy quick detach option if you want to spend extra $$. I do not see it worth though. Picatinny rail interface in combination with SAKO TRG or AI mounts. I have it on TRG. It takes some care to install (read their instructions and make sure you heat the screws). I have never owned OEM TRG bipod because it's damn heavy so I can not compare them. Looks very compact and simple. Just 2 legs, no other BS that can catch stuff.
One thing, I wish it was a little bit higher. The other small inconvenience is fancy leg extension mechanism. You have to make sure that it is always oiled. Play with it and you will figure out how to use it fast. I can see how it can catch dirt and cost you a second or two but it never happened to me.
Few inches taller and I would call it almost perfect.
Great design, made in USA, works, reasonably priced. Good choice for expensive rifle

I picked up one of these Bipods off here new, a guy was selling blems for a Benjamin shipped. So I picked one up for an AR and I'll be go to hell if that thing won't tighten up regarding the cant. Cranked the damn thing down and it still just flops over to one side or the other.
Anyone else having this issue? Zero clue as to how or if it can be rectified. Prolly gonna have to call'm I'd imagine. PITA

I got the damn thing mounted up on the 5.56 and I'll be go to hell if it'll tighten up and stop tipping over. What a PITA. I shoulda just bought 3 more Caldwells.

Your condition is also known as Noharrisbipoditis.
In layman's terms you are deficient in Harris bipod. Buy two and call me in the morning. The notch leg variety are fast acting, and you shouldn't need further treatment.
In more serious news, it's likely missing a part, or you may have discovered why it was a second.

Shame on me for trying something different. I got an Atlas, I'll be getting one more for good measure and have a few Caldwell's I picked up for $20 bucks each years ago. Not one of them has failed, yet.?

As for the bipod: have you tried using a stake and a ratchet strap? Might “snug it up” and provide better recoil control....

Brother, I cranked that damn thing down and there is no love. I'll have to take a closer look at it maybe tonight after work. Still emptying boxes and trying to get new reloading room done 1st. But ya, there's gotta be something that can be done to firm it up.

A very good friend of mine, Dr Keith Scott, is a Forensic Psychiatrist and lives a bit down the road from my old place. Does some work outta OHSU in Portland and has a private practice. When my eldest was in the Nursing Program as a Junior in High School, Dr Scott gave him a very high end Stethoscope as a gift. He only got to use it a few times while putting in hours in the ER over in Astoria. Some asshole ended up stealing it along with his stereo after busting out a window. Still pissed about that.
