oh i SSSOOOO agree,if u look like photo 2,u r screwed an roasted alive.i am a tad smarter than them masses produced BUSH ghillies.i am taking my ghillie out of the ACTUAL snipers playbook..world wide,an ya,the too much burlap is OFTEN mentioned as a BIG ASS NO NO,30/70 is the % i keep hearing about so i will make it as i can, trim it down, add an subtract as needed till i have it as perfect as i think i can make it,go across the road after the next rain storm an play in the mud for a few hrs til its beaten the hell up,let it dry, reapply retardent,an then try it out. have many vet buddys who will have cameras to record me an i can learn from that. i REALLY HATE doing shit half assed,in real or in fun, must be the best i can be.they have been talking about bringging out the BB Guns on the second try out,(ya i have some demented friends) but if i do it right an it all comes together,i get to shoot them, not the other way,and correct me if i am wrong, but thats the goal, them b4 u. and lets be honest i am a 50 year old man,in mehe shape, been out for 25 years, watching me TRY an low crawl should be pretty damn funny to watch, especially if they shoot my ass.
funny thing is with all this stuff laying around,my mind starts to wonder an i start to think outside the box a bit, already made a scope ghillie an a rifle ghillie for my M21,,found a idea that worked well, shocked the piss out of me as i would have bet NOPE,NOT GONNA WORK. instead of useing normal burlap strips,i found some burlap decorative ribbon in green an in tan,the edges have a wire running down it,made sewing a snap, once done, pulled out the wire, so made a 3ft tube, tan on bottom, green on top, then took another 2 pieces an sewed them opposite colors an then cut in half an started pulling out the little threads, gives it a 1 inch high FRIZZ over the scope an barrel shroud.not a single strand in the action. and i dragged this through bush at the range for a bit to see,i admit,i was shocked,as i really thought i had just wasted 2 days on a wildass pipe dream, but damn me if it didnt work.
do have another ? though: what do the PROFESSIONALS use for foliage bindings? 550 cord in loops is one i heard about,i am useing black scrunchies (the ones with the cloth over the rubberband types,NOT the freaking frilly ones) that way they have some extra gripping action to hold stuff. HOW MANY AROUND THE SUIT DO I NEED TO PUT ON???? 1 per 1 inch, per 5 inches, per foot?????
also,i see pretty much EVERYBODY uses set of BDU's,not going to go that route 100%,pants BDU,top is a outer cold weather coat, minus everything inside of it,i reinforced the stitches, its lighter right off the bat, added the front piece of canvas with a yoga mat cut down under it,some for sleeves an it already has a finger holder on the damn things, used to botton the wrists,i seriously reinforced them stitches on that. did the normal with pants, canvas down legs, yoga mat under canvas and sewed netting on back of both.will be adding a camel H2O system to the inside back of jacket an cutting out areas an putting camo mosquito net patches under the netting on jacket an pants to keep heat retention as low as i can.
so PLEASE keep the suggestions coming
