I have a gen4 glock 17 that I've been using for competition. I also, have a gen 3 17 RTF as backup, and a gen 3 19 for ccw. Last year I ran the gen 3 RTF. Lately, I've noticed that I've been having issues with the magazine release. The gen 4 mag release is larger, and it appears that I have trouble getting it depressed enough to cleanly drop the mag. Are there any after market options that I could replace the factory mag release? Smaller would be better, but then how big of a gap would it leave in the frame?
Any changes, need to be IDPA legal.
Also, I a southpaw, so I adjust my grip and hit the mag release with my trigger finger. I'm aware of the ability to switch the button to the other side of the frame, but most of my mags are cut for gen 3 or older, so switching it's not the best option. Plus my other guns aren't able to switch, so it wouldn't make much sense to have one opposite the other two. This was never an issue with my gen 3 glocks. My thought is that since there's more surface area on the gen 4 release I'm not able to apply enough pressure where it's needed to reliably drop the mag clean, without shaking or wiggling the gun to get it out.
Thanks in advance.
