The officer was shooting a course of fire and began having malfunctions. Upon inspection of his Glock 21 we found that the both rear slide rails had completely sheared off.
Has anyone seen or experienced this? One of my shooters had a similar incident with a Glock 19 last week. This incident wasn't as extreme, but both the rear slide rails were partially gone.

Re: Glock Malfunction

I do not know of the one in the picture, but the Glock 19 I saw last week was assembled correctly. We noticed it after he had constant malfunctions and I had dissasembled it.

Re: Glock Malfunction

I didn't see the Glock 21 but the Glock 19 was completely stock. It was a DOS weapon. Not sure on the round count, probably 4-5k rounds.

Re: Glock Malfunction

We turned it back into our Armorer, and he was planning on contacting Glock for the repair/replacement. I was wondering if anyone had encountered this before. Thank You

Re: Glock Malfunction

Glock had a recall years ago for this same issue. We sent an entire serial number range back to them.

Had a G22 do this about a month ago. The officer who was issued the pistol had been keeping a round count and was over 17K rounds when one of the rear rails sheared off.

Not unheard of but not terribly common either.

Re: Glock Malfunction

The CHP turned down the glock as a duty weapon because this was an issue in the glock .40s because of the higher pressure they operate at, sometimes in as few as 5K rounds. I can see this also becoming an issue with a steady diet of +P or +P+ (or NATO) 9mm. Still, my 19 is probably the best carry gun ever made.

Re: Glock Malfunction

Thats odd. With my experience shooting USPSA I have not seen this, and we put major quantities of rounds down range. 15K rounds is just a season of shooting. Everything mechanical can fail.

Re: Glock Malfunction

If this ever happens to one of my Glocks, I have plenty of others to get me thru the 6-8 weeks I will be without it while Glock repairs/replaces it.

Re: Glock Malfunction

I've heard of this happening but I'd thought it was only on a certain serial range of g22's. With all the good things I've heard about glocks customer service I wouldn't be too worried. Not that guns falling apart is ok.

Same here, I thought I was weird for doing that.......at least I'm not alone
