Good Chrony Tripod?

Re: Good Chrony Tripod?

I was using quite a heavy duty tripod I already owned for my CED, but wanted something lighter.

I asked here and a couple of other forums and as a result of he feed back, went with the Slick Compact XL

One of the main factors in deciding that one was a) the price and b) it was short enough when closed up to go in a 19" plastic tool box along with the CED to make a convenient package to take to the range..

I am going to add three tent pegs to the kit as a means of securing the tripod if its a bit breezy ect...

Walmart sells tripods...light and inexpensive. As Peter says, some anchor is good in the wind. I usually use a big rock or cinder block tied to a light rope hanging from the middle of the tripod.

I'm wondering, with all the computer nerds out there, hasn't anyone written a chrono program that runs on a laptop/notebook, and maybe uses a pair of small cheapo webcams for input?

Web cams are not nearly fast enough to time the bullet's passing to any usable accuracy.

The PVM-21 has a program that you can run the chrono live into your computer or bring your box in after shooting to download it to your computer already.

Dont see what the need for the cam is but they are already working with laptops.
