Rifle Scopes Good QD Mount?

I'm looking for a good QD mount/rings for a Nightforce NXS scope. I have a set for a 1-inch tube that I really dislike. The rings and base are split vertically, so if I want to try a different scope, I have to completely disassemble the unit.

Nightfoce has a QD mount (a little pricey, it seems) and I was hoping for something a bit less expensive. Note that I'm not going into combat or running around the landscape. Basically just shooting .223, 6.5-.284, and Remington 260 off a bench.

I'm not 100% of your goal, so it is difficult to make recommendations. I have been happy with my LT 719 rings, but they will have to be adjusted if moving between different rails. I would look at the AAD triple lug rings and the American Rifle rings.

Alamo Four Star deserves a look IMO. They grab more rail, don't mar your pic. rails, have 6! pic. cross bars where larue and others only have 2 and are very strong.

I have had Arms, ADM and Larue. I have never had bobro or gdi. I will not use the previous 3 I have had anymore.

Edit. Mine were based on semi auto use but can easily apply to bolt guns as long as you have an adjustable cheek piece to ensure proper cheek weld.... They are 1.5 high.

Im not sure if your saying that your opposed to a vertically split ring mount, but my American Defense Manufacturing 1 piece ring mount system is fantastic in QD. Im very happy.

Second... If you care about accuracy, you don't want/need a QD mount. A quality riser with rings or a Fixed mount like the KAC/Nighforce/Badger would be perfect. Take a look at the M110's and precision rifles in the military..... none use a QD mount.

Third.... If you HAVE to have QD..... Bobro or maybe GDI if you have the cash to burn. Larue, ADM, Arms, GG&G or whatever other shit is out there, is obsolete.

You are going to see the tards coming running saying how they have a LTxxx or ADM blah blah and it works fine....They are either wrong, ignorant, or the exception to the rule. They are all obsolete designs that are not worth the money they cost anymore. This isnt 2003. If you want to know why I say this, use the search function.

The dual lever, dual contact locking system of the ADM is much better at securing the optic and retaining zero than the single locking level Bobro's in every way. Why? Because the ADM has more bearing surface than the Bobro. If the ADM didn't work for you then you were doing something wrong because it's superior to the Bobro in every way.

Furthermore, if you can't refrain from being a fuckin dick then don't say a goddamn thing.

I've never been a big ARMS fan, but what issues did you experience with Larue and ADM?

I haven't had any serious failures of the 2, except an ARMS lever that broke on me during hard use years ago. I do like ADM better than Larue for surface contact reasons, contact of the crossbars/locking system and the fact that Larue cross bars don't make full contact with the pic rail. Without being derogatory, lets just say the Larue issues are personal preference and I simply prefer the more contact area, cross bars and rail grab of Alamo mounts. Nothing negative on ADM really. If it's working for anyone, great!

Once I tried the Alamo; I was just very impressed, especially for the $$.

NightForce makes a one piece mount but it's not QD. The Larue mount is a bad choice because it 'knife edges" the rail and over time it will damage the rail and the lever(s) will begin to work itself loose. I decided to try a Larue mount, based on all the hype I had read, and I didn't keep it for very long before swapping it out for an ADM.

If you don't have to have a QD mount go with a NightForce unimount, AAD mount, or Spuhr.

If you require a QD mount and don't mind the extended wait, the GDI mount is where it's at and if that's too rich for your blood, the ADM is a decent mount.

As with any QD mount, you will have a poi shift anytime you remove and reattach it but as long as you put it back where you removed it from the shift should be very minimal.

I've not tried any of the Alamo mounts or rings but they look nice.

Thank you for your assistance and sharing your knowledge. Actually, I did try a search, but "QD mount" didn't turn up anything useful.

I shall be sure to keep on the lookout for "tards." None so far.

As another response said, I really should have given a reason. It's so I can swap one scope among several rifles for load development. It sounded a little easier to swap around, mainly because some of my scopes are 1-inch tubes, and other are 30mm. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

Thank you for your thoughtful suggestions. My being fairly new to multiple rifles with multiple scopes, you brought up a couple points I had failed to consider. I'll be reconsidering my requirements for a new mount.

How do you like Oklahoma? We're moving out of Colorado as soon as the kid finishes school. Laramie, WY, made a good impression, and my wife is familiar with the Ponca City area. We'll be taking a few days in the next couple weeks to go see what's available there.

I disagree with the post that stated that a Bobro mount won't return to zero. I have two of them, one for a Leupold 1-6x24 and one for a March 3-24x42. Maybe I'm just lucky, but the QD works great and both scopes return to zero if they are attached to the same rail spot. I don' believe that aggressive post bashing or name calling is called for on this site or anywhere else, but it sure does reveal the character of the poster.

Where in any of the above posts was anything said about the Bobro not returning to zero? The only reference that I made to it was that the lever locking system isn't as good as the ADM, thereby increasing the likelihood of it failing to retain zero.

In my experience the Bobro is king. It returns to zero better than my ADM's, well at least the ones I had. The fact that it has one lever makes no difference to me because the damn thing just works better. Again, this is my personal experiance. Killshot I suggest actually getting your hands on a Bobro and testing it out if you haven't already.

I've had excellent results with 3 different Larue mounts (2 types) and yes even standard nightforce mounting and unmounting returns to Zero close enough for scope sharing amongst rifles requiring precision optics for load work up purposes and general shooting. Because yeah it's hard to come by $2,400 for a FFP scope on each rifle. Not like most of us need first round hits and if we did we certainly would have one rifle that was locked the fuck down tight all around. At my last 600 yard match my Larue QD mounts were used to swap between Pheonix precision irons and my 3.5x15 FFP nightforce, with no shift noticeable in my slinged prone position. Shot this match on 36 hrs no sleep a friggin head cold and a headache the size of Texas. I guess if my rail gets dug out out I'll throw it away and get another one they still look good though.

The reasons why a Larue mount isn't ideal for a precision rifle have been expounded time and again on this forum, as well as the Bobro. I've peronally explained why, more than once, and have nothing more to add to this topic. If they work for you, fine and dandy.

What's funny is just about everyone who has owned them all will say the same thing. Non QD for any real work and Bobro or GDI for QD.

You say Bobro has smaller surface area and increases the chance of it failing? Show me ONE instance where this has happened. I can show you MULTIPLE instances where a poorly machined, shit mount like ADM has failed. Add to the fact that they stole the design with minor changes. All of the POI/RTZ tests between the QD mounts have shown bobro to have the least shift. It takes no adjustment.... ADM and Larue will fuck up your rails unless they are set perfect, which rarley happens.

Retards who shoot at dirt and never run their rifles hard has no business giving any advice.
