Good resource for AI versions/history?

Hello,

I have been fairly confused with all the versions and history of each model. Is there a good place to go to figure all this out? When I see an AW advertised it seems people want to know the date to tell what version it is? The model AT? AE MK I - II?

Thanks for any input!

Dave

Re: Good resource for AI versions/history?

Many people ask for the date because they believe the older AIs are better made compared to the new ones. A rep from AINA commented here recently on how they have actually updated tooling an whatnot as time has gone on and that the rifles are actually better made now as a result. I know my 09AW is every bit as accurate as the 02AEmk1 I recently sold (sad to see it go actually). Just to test I put each rifles bolt in the other and checked headspace, which they both passed. I would have no concerns about buying a 2010 AI or a 1995.

There were some models like the AI AT (accuracy target? I think) that were made in small numbers with some minor differences.. Like the AT having a 6lug bolt similar to the AWSM but in a .473 bolt face (.308) and a different trigger.

Some of the other changes would be at some point all of the AE and AW rifles were having the rear of the stock drilled and tapped for the adjustable cheek piece, even if they shipped as a "1.0 configuration". My AE was like this.

The rifles have had some other things construction wise in the chassis that have changed but nothing honestly worth a mention.

Ya AT = Accuracy Target
Like he said 6 lugs on the bolt, and a couple of different triggers. Mine has their rare palma trigger on it.
