The purpose of the AR is for home-defense/plinking. It's a LWRC M6A2 IC SPR. I searched using the forum search button, but couldn't find anything good for the past 4-5 pages.

I also have an eotech on hand, but did not want to get the magnifier on top of it, as it's too heavy and has shitty eye relief.

I have a budget of up to $2,000 (really do not want to spend this much though...). My initial choice was an Elcan SpecterDR, but my job isn't being a soldier, so me spending $2.1k on an optic is really not my logical idea.

I would like recommendations within $1k-$2k. It does not have to be FFP as I'm not looking into precision shooting, just plinking with the optic. It needs 1x (I don't know if 1.5x can effect me with both eyes open).

??? you've just spent $2500+ on a premium AR... I think your logic might be a bit flawed by not getting a premium scope ???
...although $2000 is premium at 1-6... ;)

I've just bought the Limited Edition LWRC IC A5 Fenrir from Modern Outfitters, and chose a Leupold Mk6 1-6 CMR-W 5.56... which has still to arrive.
I'm not overly happy with the CMR-W 5.56 reticle data right now (see my other thread about it)... but bought it for the new daylight bright illumination tech and horseshoe centre.... and it can be fitted with a TMR reticle as well.

The only 'problem' with it, is the new illumination tech, in that it apparently has a 'flickering' eyebox problem where if you move your head around, the illumination appears to flicker. I suspect that it's more a user 'cheek weld' problem... but will only be able to honestly comment when I have it in my mits. It might actually teach me to keep my head in the right place. (almost like a gear shift rev light for parallax... ;) )

From info in BigJimFish's articles, it seems that the new Trijicon VCog uses a similar technology, but doesn't seem to have the 'flicker' problem. Do a Google search for "The variable, low power multipurpose scope review thread", and you'll find all the info that you need.

If you shop around, you can get the Leupold Mk6 1-6 for around $1900.00... the Trijicon VCog seems to be going to come out soon for around $2350.00.

With all of them, take care to get the reticle most suited for you requirements.
Have fun with your LWRC.... I can't wait to get mine !

I just got the Vortex Razor Gen 2 HD. I got to sight it in a bit at about 50yds, but am waiting to get outdoors for a 200yd sight in, at that time, I could give you more info.

As for now, the glass is very good as well as the eye relief. My only concern at this point is the weight. This has me back and forth on what rifle/application to use it for. Great 1-6x scope for CQB/mid range, but too heavy for a strictly CQB rifle.

I'd be curious what others have to opine

I just picked up a 1-8.5 Bushnell SMRS and got to put it in a head to head comparison with the Vortex Razor HD II 1-6

They are both heavy, the Bushnell a bit more so but like Boris the Blade says. "Heavy is good, Heavy is reliable...if it doesn't work you can always hit him with it"

At first glance, it seemed the Bushnell was easier to just pull up and acquire the reticle on 1x but this was while both were free (not mounted to anything) so that may have been just dumb luck.

It was also hard to tell with the naked eye which had the better glass but after some camera and light adjustments, we found the Bushnell actually to be superior at both 1x and 6x.

Overall, I'm happy with what I got and can't wait for my AADMOUNT to drop her into.

Get the Vortex Razor 1-6x, save the rest for a couple cases of ammo. Call around to some of the Hide vendors and you may find a good deal including mount.

Good advice. Got one on my 3 gun rifle and love the optic. Great glass and reticle and quick to the eye. Here's some pics I took just today. Again I will give my usual PSA that I am not good at through the scope pics and these are more to show the reticle for both hold over marks and the center red dot as I can't really get a good picture of the whole FOV especially at 1x as it's large. Glass is much clearer in person as anyone who owns one can tell you.
