Grayboe vs Oryx

I know the stock vs chassis debate has been covered but I can’t help but ask using specifics. So I’m looking to upgrade my R700 6.5CM stock and I’m between the Grayboe Renegade and the Oryx chassis. The gun is 50/50 hunting and target shooting (not bench). I like the looks and the modularity of the chassis, but wonder if a stock Is a more well rounded piece of equipment. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

I like the look and feel of the Grayboe but the Oryx sure seems like it would be more adaptable to accessories

Well and while I mentioned modularity, I don’t really plan on any accessories aside from a sling and bipod, both of which the renegade can handle. The Oryx has the adjustable cheek piece and LOP which is nice, but at the same time I like having a stock pack on the gun with some essentials and I think I might have a tough time putting one on the Oryx with how minimal the butt is.

Yep. Grayboe has done a good job of building the Mloks into their stocks.

No M-Lok on the Renegade, just two swivel studs on the underside.

For OP - I really liked my Renegade. Put a Triad stock pack on it and a Seekins rail up front in place of the studs. Only drawback for me was the length of pull, so I ended up taping a few cut foam spacers to the end to get closer to 14-14.25". No experience with the Oryx, but from what I've seen it's a solid chassis. I ended up deciding I liked my KRG Bravo better than the Grayboe, mainly for the ability to change LOP. I'd definitely recommend you take a look at the Bravo as well when deciding. I think a majority of the posters here would agree with me on that.

Yeah since the onset of this post I’ve also started considering the bravo and the x-ray. I know a lot of people speak very highly of the bravo but I can’t help but feel like that polymer looks cheap, but in the end function over form I guess lol

I agree the Bravo has a cheap look to it. I have considered it many times and people say great things about them though. I have the Oryx and it is excellent.

Apologies for the Necro-Reply but Ive got a few points to add:

Had a Renegade on REM700 - loved the look and feel but feel like it needed to be bedded for better accuracy.
Had a KRG Bravo and couldnt get the receiver torqued down well enough because of the captured action screw. Couldnt get used to the misaligned front and back panels either. Nice weight and ergonomics.
Have an Oryx on the way and hoping for good results - thinking the action lock-up is going to be better than either of the above.

I now own both the Oryx and the Bravo. The Oryx is solid and what you see is what you get with it. I do wish it had m-loks on the sides.
The KRG Bravo definitely has a cheapness to it. It is poorly fit and poorly finished, IMHO. BUT in function, it is excellent. As for the captured action screw...it's not captured. If you take the forearm off you can take out that screw or get to it to apply proper torque.
The Gray-Boe looks awesome and is priced as such I'd trade my Bravo for a Ridgeback any day. But I have enough money into my most recent build already: I dumped most of my money into glass. Not every budget is unlimited. I know, I know...go be poor somewhere else
