Well, I shot out at Tac Pro today in Texas.
You have to qualify to shoot the 1000yd range.... It was funny. I wasn't a member till today so, I signed up and qualified today.
they don't have pit service but, they have a good berm and you can set out steel etc. Nice range and GREAT people from the experience I've had so far.
So.... I was still working on a load for my rifle and, I took a chance... I ran the bullets into the rifling after being about 30 1/1000 out... I put the 220 smk .010 from the lands... backed off the charge a LOT and I was still high on pressure BUT, the fucking thing was shooting lights out. Shit, I was only up 26.25 from a 100yd zero. LOL ( hot ammo )
We had about a 7-10mph wind going to 2:30 o'clock. I hit the mother load on the reloads. They shot well.
Qualifying was simple but, after that, there were a lot of 4" skeets that were sitting on the berm at 1000yds.
Got to figure a 3/4 value 10mph wind that changed from 7 to 15...
Great day. I killed 4 skeet in 9 rounds and, I'm a newbie at 1000yds... not a newbie at shooting and not a newbie at reloading but, still very new. It was a nice steady wind but, you had to pay CLOSE attention to the mirage.... wait... or shoot...
I used to shoot the national match course and, I am not at all what you'd call a NEW shooter... I made the president's 100 in 1984.
Truth be told tho... If you hit close to a 4" skeet you will likely break it.
