Been lurking around, admiring the beautiful rifles of the members of this forum, trying to get ideas for a rifle I'm trying to put together, that right now is in the design stage in my head.

Let me start by saying I'm a Remington 700 guy, been using them since I was a kid, and Remington's have been a staple in our hunting camps for decades. (The first one I used was my Dad's 700 ADL in .270 that he bought 2 months before I was born.)

I currently one two: 700LH BDL in .308, and an SPS AAC Tactical w/16.5" threaded barrel also in .308.

My quandary comes from the fact that Remington does not offer the AAC in a LH model, so I'm left to build what I want.

I figure that if I'm going to do this, I need to do it right. My plan is to use the 700LH as the donor receiver. I've got the stock mostly picked out (either a McMillan A2 or A3-5), bottom metal to take detachable mags, and a Brux barrel threaded for my Lane Scorpion King all-titanium suppressor. Herein lies my gripe. I can't find anything about the different barrel contours other than dimensions. No pictures, and even when I see something I'm not sure what it is I'm looking at. I know the barrel length I want, 20" w/1:10 twist, (to be able to handle 180gr subsonic loads along with anything between 150 and 175 Sierra MatchKings), but without being able to tell the difference between sporter, Palma, Varmint, and M24/40 profiles, I'm left banging my head against the wall.

I'm here to learn, ask questions, and pick the brains of the members here, so please bear with me.
