Hello my fellow armed friends!
I got my first rifle when I was 10. remington single bolt .22 junior size. I gave it to my 8 year old son last christmas.I probably have put 1000,s of rounds through it. I am not a hunter and never was but have shot pretty much everything from cinder blocks and dirt piles to soda cans, fruit and botlles or jars.
At 12 years old my father signed me up for the local PAL (police athletic league) rifle league. It was modeld after a nra marksmanship class but taught to kids ages 12-15.. I learned how to shoot 50 & 00 yard groupings using WW2 .22 caliber training rifles. They looked similar to M1 and weighed at least as much..
We were taught each shooting position and were required to meet certain requirements before we could "open shoot" the next position. prone, sit or kneel, standing.
Last week I pulled out my youth .22 which is an adult remington 582 cut down, shot quarter size groupings at 25 yards..Not bad for having not pulled the trigger in 25 years.
So here I am. I am looking to purchase a larger caliber for 100-300yards target shooting. I do not hunt. I cannot reload due to rules of my apartment complex.
I also enjoy drinking beer and barbecue shrimp.
