Grendel dropping, not throwing brass.

So I had a AA grendel put together for me with all the usual specs and went out to shoot it yesterday and it was dropping the spent brass out almost at my feet instead chucking it 4' or so or what I would consider normal. I used a box of 123 AA/lupua pre-loaded boolits that I picked up strictly for function testing so I'm wondering if this is normal for this gun as it's obviously not broken in or if there is something I'm missing (forgive me I'm a long time bolt-gun/reloader guy).

As in a need more pressure? This is a 24" barrel and I plan to reload with Win748 so if I load hotter that AA factory ammo would that solve the problem? or does the bolt just need to break in more?

Try running your bolt and carrier wet with lube until it breaks in.

Re: Grendel dropping, not throwing brass.

It could also be your buffer? If you are running a heavy (or heavier than normal) buffer and/or an XP buffer spring, that could cause the problems you are experiences.

Re: Grendel dropping, not throwing brass.

I don't want to say the other advice on this thread is off base, but it almost certainly is. It's 95% certain you have a bum extractor.

I have built and test fired hundreds of uppers based off the 6.5 Grendel case, and the symptom you describe is what I have seen with a bad extractor. I even carry spares for the customer uppers in case I get one that does that at the range when I test fire it (I typically swap it out with another and ejection can change dramatically).

could be a slow ejector too, that or the case is hanging up on the sharp corners of the extractor.
pull the BCG out hold it straight up, insert a case in the bolt pushing the ejector down and then ease off, what is slowing down the movement of the case?

I'm just running the OEM buffer spring, the one that came with it as a .223.
