Rifle Scopes Grew up on mil-dots and MOA...now NF MOA/MOA?

I was going to go Mil/Mil, but the availability drove me to an NF 5.5-22x50 with .25MOA and an NP-R1 reticle. I'm now wondering if I screwed up. I have spent years using a mil-dot, so much so it's almost second nature to me, even with MOA adjustments.

Does anyone have advice for switching modes from Mils to MOA, or should I really return this scope and hold out for a Mil/Mil?

I switched and it's super easy w/ MOA/MOA. I think it's much faster to range as well. Plus for me it's easier to put the cross hairs on the top of it and range right from that spot. For me in was instantly easier to use.

Give it a shot first.

That's the kind of feedback I was looking for. I'll give it a spin. What about documentation, logbook pages, etc that are MOA/MOA specific?

super easy, what you see in the crosshair is the dope on the turret, no conversion, no calculation. Scopes should have been made with matching reticule to turrets from day one of mildot introduction.

What about ranging using a MOA reticle?

Works the same just uses a different formula </div></div>

Right... I meant stuff like documentation and all that. Are there any logbooks or software available with data pages for MOA/MOA and so on?

You can do the same thing with a mil/mil reticle. MOA/MOA isn't any faster or easier. It's just a different angular graduation.

To the OP, most any ballistic program will give you data in MOA. NF scopes are true MOA. Data pages and log books can be used with either. Go to www.impactdatabooks.com They have a NF NP-R1 reticle hold page, which is the reticle that I would recommend if you are going MOA in a NF scope. Here's a direct link
http://www.impactdatabooks.com/Nightforce_NP_R1_Reticle_p/rh-nf-npr1.htm

The NP-R1 has 1 MOA elevation and 2 MOA windage marks which are more useful at breaking down the reticle then the NP-R2 which have 2 MOA elevation and 5 MOA windage marks.

Thanks Rob, that's exactly what I needed.
