I posted this question in the Rifles section, but I figured it would be better suited in Gunsmithing.
The topic is barrel groove count. I have Bobby from Lawton Machine standing by to barrel my M2008, and I've got all my specs down that I want, but I'm not too sure on the groove count I would like. I think 6 and 8 groove is standard across most of the board, but I have heard good things about 3-groove barrels. I hear that they foul less and clean easier and hold their accuracy for longer intervals between cleanings?
All this is good and well, but that makes me ask myself; "With all else equal,if 3-groove does this, why on earth would anyone want to run 6 or 8 groove barrels?" and "What cons come with a 3-groove rifled barrel?"
