Ok boys I need some guidance. I have a Tikka T3 Tactical in 308, its a box gun, Leupold QR Weaver style for the picatinny rail, and a POS Burris 4-14x42AO. Im working up different loads with 168gr SMK's, and 178 AMAX's. With both rounds I can get 3 rds in a nice lil cloverleaf, then the other two go apeshit at about 1.5-2"s. Im shooting off of bipods w/rear bag. The cloverleaf groups are at 200yds by the way. Where can I narrow down the problem here. The 168gr load is 43.1gr. RE-15 at 2.810" and the 178gr is 43.0gr Varget at 2.810". Havent chronographed any yet. At first I thought that it was me. I have a tendency to "throw one" out of a 5 shot group. But this is getting to be a regular thing with these groups. I have shot 6 different groups that have 3 in same cluster then 2 out to the right about 1-2 inches away, always to the right.HELP!!!

Only shoot 3 shot groups..... LOL. I just had to be the first to say that.
On a serious note, you might consider shooting a 10 shot group, ensuring that your point of aim and point of impact are two different locations.

Scope, mounts or bedding. I'll bet bedding. In my experience when a scope goes bad internally it isn't consistantly inconsistant. Scope mounting could be moving...but...I still think bedding. The barrelled action comes to rest after vibrating during firing in two separate areas on the recoil lug/bedding. JMHO FNP

The Tikka doesnt have a recoil lug like a Remmy perse. It is a crosslug on the action. And I did check the action screws they are tight. But the scope has come to mind several times LOL. I need a better scope, been looking at IOR but other things have required my blueberry money here lately.

Are you cleaning the barrel in between groups? Could it be barrel fouling or dirty barrel after a couple shots throwing your groups off?

fouling is not an issue. just tore rifle apart and I think that the bedding is my culprit. Does anyone know of any bottom metal that I can get for this rifle? I can pillar bed the thing, but the bottom "plastic has no definitive stop on it. the recoil lug is a piece of aluminum wedged in the stock to inpinge on a crossslot of the receiver. So if I pillar bed and then replace with true metal bottom I should be rock solid.

Ok Ive done a thorough investigation. I have found that the aluminum "recoil" lug that is put in the stock is at least .015" thinner than the cross slot in the receiver. So does anyone have a suggestion as to a good bedding putty that I can bed this receiver in? I see Devcon alot on the website. Ive went to their website and have multiple options. I need a specific product to use. And also Im going to replace the aluminum lug with a cold rolled precision fit steel replacement. I would like to use a more "putty" consistency product if possible. When I removed the aluminum plate from the stock I could see deformation in the front edge of it from recoil.

By shooting a larger number shot group, It will allow you to pick up pattens.
I would also look at your scope set-up. Have you adjusted your eyepiece, are you checking for parallax, are you using a scope level.
The other things to look at are environmentals, shooting small groups is not as easy as people will lead you to believe, there are so many factors, only some of which are your rifle.

If you want the hardest bedding, look up Devcon Titanium. You'll need a carbide bit if you FU. If you want to try it, I'll send you enough in plastic baggies to do it. Need a snail mail addy and postage in return...got to be expensive to mail stuff now.
