Picked up a GSG-5 SD yesterday from a guy in need of cash, condition was excellent and included the box, sight posts, manual etc, so I didn't mind giving him $300 for it. Bought it thinking my step son would enjoy it, but actually I had a great time shooting it!

That said, I had some feeding issues with a number kf different ammo brands including mini mags and the issues were prevalent in all 5 magazines (I bought 4 more.) About once per mag I was getting a round hung up on the feed ramp with enough force to bend the round. It was easy to clear but still an unacceptable performance to me. Anyone have any experience with correcting this issue?

Obligatory pic, and before anyone gets sand in their vagina, the beers were drank after the shooting, not before.

Re: GSG-5

bm11, Where I am from most good stories start with, "Hold my beer and watch this shot". So you tell us what kind of gun but don't offer up what kind of beer. WTF bm11 WTF?

Not even in the same zip code as type of rifle but I had a Marlin 22 do the exact same thing. After the 4th type of ammo got f-ed up, I figured it was the gun. Ordered a new feed ramp thingy for it and polished the hell out of it before installing it. While I had the gun apart, I also cleaned all the little moving parts. That seemed to do the trick. My issue may have also been the age of the rifle as it was at least 25 years old.

Re: GSG-5

The beer is Peak Organic. Pretty good, I am not an organic nut but I am a beer nut and this one is decent.

I'll check out the feed ramp and see if I can get it to polish out. Thanks guys.

Re: GSG-5

I was having the same kind of issues with mine..no matter what I fed it the gun would still jam up...I would clean the holy hell out of it and maybe get a box of cci mini mag before it would start having cycling issues (usually failure to eject/extract) I checked the extractor and ejecter both are clean and servicable. The round count on it is fairly low. I have honestly given up on it and it now sits in the rear of my safe. the ole 10-22 has re surfaced and running well..lesson learned.

Re: GSG-5

I think I found the issue. Taking it apart tonight for the first time, I find that the front take down bolt is missing. Being that I have read that the torque on that bolt is critical to function, I would imagine that it being there is also critical. I will order one ASAP.

That could be the biggest understatement of the week.

Re: GSG-5

i have one and i have the same issues. i think it just has to be broken in. mine actually would shoot 2-3 round burst from time to time but has since stopped that. i'm going to shoot a couple more hundred rounds through it and see what happens. after a brick or so these things tend to shoot a lot better and more reliable. i have a GSG-522PK as well and that is reliable although it's not as accurate as i would like.
