Gun ban Any Advice for a new gun shop owner?

Ok so where do i begin. Two weeks ago i opened my new gun shop. Small store good stuff though. Mostly tactical based weapons. Two weeks ago i never had sold a gun. Today ive sold over 100. Last week i had sold most of my inventory.

But As soon as i saw the whole newtown situation. i got on the horn bought 20 ar's 200 high capacity glock mags and 100 magpul pmags. And a shitload of ammo. Ive picked up 5 more ar's from people who are scared they will lose them. Feinsteins bill will be introduced on the 3rd.

As of now i got quite a few weapons on this list. Im moving a few everyday. But what happens if i dont sell em. Im a brand new store just using facebook and local papers and word of mouth. I was a kid during the first weapons ban.

What happens to me as a fll as a business owner. Do i get to sell whats on the shelf. How long will we have after the bill is introduced. Before it kicks in. Will they just ram it down our throats like everything else this administration does. Or will the nra buy us some time. i do have insurance through the nra. I need to see what that covers i suppose. Just kinda freaked out watching my business go down in two weeks. How did it go down the first time. Thanks to all

You will likely sell what you currently have before any legislation takes effect, especially if you advertise and sell your product on the Internet. Also, there will be those rushing to buy in the midnight hour if anything happens, even if it will be out rightly banned, which I don't believe could happen, but then again I didn't think the American people were stupid enough to reelect Obama.

Since nobody knows what legislation (if any) will gain traction, it is difficult to provide you with any advice - except maybe for this: Require anyone purchasing a weapon from you to first either prove membership to a gun rights organization or to join while in your store over the web.

What we need now is to maximize our public presence as law-abiding and responsible gunowners. Folks can choose the NRA, Second Amendment Foundation, Gunowners of America, or others.

im not so worried about the guns. i got a lot of cashed dropped into glock high cap magazines and magpul pmags. but those are not on the books so i guess they can sell in bulk to my brother for a penny

If you are sitting on a shitload of Pmags you are either charging a stupid amount or not advertising. Best not to speculate but, if a ban comes, all your gear will get snatched up.

Go create a gunbroker.com account and list all your Glock mags and Pmags in 3 mag packages, you'll sell them all in a week and have some extra money to run the business with.

Your job as a gun shop owner is to create as much fear in the mind of your consumer as possible. Find the latest Rumor on the internet or make it up and spread it. Also if you are not yet 200 pound you need to put on some more weight real gun shop owners need to weight at least that much to adsorb all the recoil.

As soon as i saw newtown flash on the screen. I order every ar i can get my hands on Then start buying all i can under a grand on gun broker. Drop $10k on glock high caps and another $5k on pmags at regular prices and i dont know business. So i sell out my inventory and my post newtown orders are rolling in now and im setting on 40+ gun ban weapons. And a pile of mags. 20,000 rounds of .223 and another 20,000 of 7.62 and 30,000 rounds of pistol ammo

im not giving the shit away. im not gun broker price gouging. And all i want to know is how it rolled out in the last ban because the longer i sit on this shit the more obama and fienstein talk the more valuble it becomes. so effectivly in 21 days ive become the only person in my state with any ar's in stock making me the biggest assult weapons dealer here. Im gonna name my price on the guns and ammo next thursday and profit $100k minimum in a month. And your telling me i don't know business.

Im not worried about not selling im worried about getting hung with them because im holding out for when a set in stone deadline is announced. Thats when prices go through the roof. Then im ordering in a few dillion 1050xls and going into ammo manufacturing. And ive already ordered in enough cheap remington 700's and accuracy international floorplates and 10 round mags ichambered in.223 to build 50 scout rifles so i can convince people they need this for a ar-15 back up. But i have no clue as to how to run a business

I am guessing that You get to keep everything you got and register it with the ATF as a PRE BAN weapon, and then sell it as such. The buyer will then have to do the same. I don't think they can outright stop the transfer of pre-bans, but they are looking to make us register them. I have been buying pre-ban weapons in NY for years. If you are in a Nanny State like NY CT MASS NJ, etc. you will probably get state laws. I doubt the fed is going to make the ban through but asshole states will. Me, I am saving my money to rent a place in Vermont and move my guns from NY to there to avoid registration, cause we all know what comes after that. That is just my best guess.

Business is a risk plan and simple you knew this when you started.
I don't know many people that wouldn't want to be in your shoes right now.

Your right its not the most pc way to be. I dont toot my horn until someone calls me a idiot and that im doomed. I had a very valid question pertaining to the first ban. And it seems there is always people on these boards wanting to inject negativity into the conversation. Sarcasm or not im not gonna be insulted. I know i should play it cool and not let some troll on a internet message board cause me to launch in to a tirade on my greatness. Its a waste of time. I would suggest that in a couple days you will know what path to take.

The issue here is that unlike the previous AWB, this time they are itching to go for back door confiscation by possibly demanding that things become non-transferable.

I would suggest however that you not put too many eggs in the basket of stockpiling them for later sale, as unlike the last AWB, this time they look to be playing for all the marbles not wanting to let a tradgedy go to waste and you may find significant restrictions on selling certian items in the near future.

I might suggest enjoying the feast while it is here, to build your capital back up as I think regardless of what happens, at a certian point everyone willing to pay crazy money for stuff will be stocked up and prices will go back down, or quite possibly people may be stuck with what they have after a certian point.

You can sell all your Glock mags and Pmags in a couple of days on Gunbroker. Most likely any legislation will not be implemented for 6-12 months. If you had 100 ARs and 1,000 high capacity mags, you could sell everything within a few days. You are in a good position.

Just watch out for the internet trolls and idiots who will waste your time. There are a few on SH, but even more on some other sites. Best to ignore them. If you respond, you will get nowhere.
