    Howdy-

Quick question for those who have done this before. I have plenty of experience spraying both Gun Kote and Cerakote but normally I am spraying barrels, small parts, stripped bolt gun receivers etc. My new project is spraying a new 870 EXpress that I did up with Vang Comp sights, a Scattergun Tech. extension etc.

My question is: When you guys are spraying 870's or shotguns like this, are you coating the inside as well? The 870 has some parts staked and riveted to the inside of it that I don't really want to mess with. If you dont spray the inside, got any good tips for masking it off?

    Thanks!

You have to be careful about getting blasting media in behind the feed latches, and behind the ejector spring, tape these areas off with elecrical tape. A strip or two wide over each latch and a couple of short strips over the ejector.
Do NOT remove the latches and restake them, then the metal at the stake is completely unprotected.

This is what I do, and get wonderful results. Only caveats have been some I did for an agency operating in salt water environments, I did do them a little different.

    Thanks.

So are you spraying inside at all?

Is the "Express Finish" (looks like park. to me) good to coat directly on top of after de-greased and outgassed? I soaked everything in a hot tank, dried it off, soaked in acetone, dried, now its all in the oven at 450 burning off any residual oil.
