I have a situation with getting a new gun safe and where to put it. First, lets bypass all the whipped commentary, or man-up or any of that - I get it, I understand.
Here's the issue - I'm going to buy a new gun safe. I want to put it in our bedroom. My wife of course thinks it's ugly and doesn't want that "big ugly piece of metal" in the bedroom. Her suggestion is to put it pretty much anywhere else in the house except where someone might see it.
Have any of you guys found a way to dress one up a bit? My bedroom is large enough I could build some sort of decorative cabinet around it - I'm just wondering how big of a pain in the ass that would be and if I am stealing functionality away from the gun safe itself if I do that.
I do have other places in the house I could put it, downstairs in the storage room (where my current, small safe, is at) or in my office that is downstairs as well, but I'd just like to have it up on the main floor, out of sight and not too far off from where I sleep. I would also however, like to keep the peace in my house and not have something that my wife hates every time she sees it, in the bedroom.

. Anything we need to lock up goes in them, important papers and yes my jewelry sometimes. Unless you build one like the beauty seen in the thread, there is no real way to make it look "Pretty". Its a gun safe...but it holds our biggest investments short of our House and 401k's.
