Does anyone else find safes annoying. I mean i know they keep things secure, and humidity/temp at acceptable levels. Does anyone have any other options they use?

Options for safes?

Dig a hole in the ground, pour 6" thick with rebar floor, build block walls on 4 sides backfilled with rebar and concrete, pour 6" concrete top reinforced with rebar. Install vault door with biometrics....

Or just buy a safe... lolol

A gun store and indoor shooting range I built their IT infrastruture for (POS, VOIP, WiFi, LAN, Servers, LED Advertising walls, HD CCTV, etc) just traded me a brand new Winchester Evolution 55 towards an invoice. I love this thing. Dehumidifier, motion sensing LED interior lighting...Its a beast.

My first safe was annoying, to small. My new safe is great, got a nice 72”H safe lots of room. Still sucks though when trying to get to the guns in the back. Eventually when I have the opportunity, I will build myself a gun room/man cave with a vault door.

If you can manage it, a reinforced concrete walk-in with a very heavy steel door/frame, that is hidden, is probably as expensive as an oversized Amsec bought off-site and moved. It's just not portable if you want to move. I'll admit it's nice to just walk into your vault. No more worries about space and management of it.

If you plan on staying where you live and have a spot for it, built ins are awesome! I don't have the space so I have a Pendleton. Really nice being able to access all guns by moving no more than 1 gun. It is still not perfect, and I feel overpriced for what it is but best I have found for me. It's much better than my older amsec safe

Thats the thing too ive seen some BIG safes, and i have quite a few guns. Im not old, but no spring chicken, and I buy more than a few a yr. Hate running out of space lol.

I saw someone on the internet using a filing cabinet for full size structure plans to store guns. There’s multiple drawers that are only a few inches deep so it provided awesome access to a large amount of guns, at the cost of much less security.

Many years ago I sold a rifle to a lawyer, he invited me into his home and showed me the gun room he had built into the home.
Steel ceiling and steel and concrete walls temperature controlled. He did estates and man he had some gun and knife collection. Sadly I heard he passed away a few years ago.

Nice to have that kind of money

I like the idea of using one of my Snap-On toolboxes for handgun storage when I build a gun safe room. The shallow drawers are perfect for storing the handguns flat, and the lower, deeper drawers will be great for storage of holsters and other accessories.

When I lived in MI we had a basement . So while the house was being built I built a nice room 15 X 20 block with steel roof and scored on a used vault door . Was great just put them in a rack , all your items in one place

Perhaps the built in with a steel door, maybe add 3 or 4 point locking to the door, a safe for the crown jewels and/or a 14-12 gauge cabinet for expansion. Add a electromagnetic lock to the room door for an additional obstacle.

I just paid 1400 bucks to have my safes moved to my new house. The man cave is the way to go!! I am looking into getting a Stanley vidmar cabinet to fit inside one of my safes to store handguns. I also built a solid wood platform to put the safes on. If the basement ever floods the safes are 7 inches off the floor
