So I was talking with a good friend another Hide member about this addiction to buying, flipping, and just overall drooling over guns and gun stuff for sale on these sites. I buy a gun shoot it some and then want to get a 2 one ( 2 is 1 one is.... ) or trade it and buy another. It has taken over to where looking at all the forums trying to get good trades or deals fills hours a week of my time. I also read many of the posts and like giving info where I can, but if a good deal is in the " For sale/ trade " its like acid in my mouth. Just wanted to share and see if anyone other has gone through this or is on the same level. Altho you may not see this if your trolling the FS listings. First step to recovery is saying you have a problem right? I know that the FS/FT section is a thorn in the side of most moderators and owners of forums but hats off for letting us use them and dealing with all the BS that gos with it. Thanks

Re: Gun Sickness

I have that Disease. Most people that know me will ask me to find guns, scopes, or ammo. I'm on alot of forums and use different search engines. I have flipped alot of equipment.

Re: Gun Sickness

For me it's a hobby. It's like trading old whiskey bottles or marbles ... it's just a lot more expensive. A lot of my buddies waste their money on BS like motorcycles, 4-wheelers, and such, but I just buy stuff at a really good price and turn it around.

Also, I hit a lot of local auctions and estate sales on the weekends. You can find some really good stuff at these types of sales.

Although, it's gotten to the point lately that I have more 'NEW' stuff to turn over so that I can make room for the guns & gear I really want.

Keep your eyes open. A couple of weeks ago I drove 200 miles to a dealer in the middle of nowhere that was going out of business. All of his parts, guns, and gear were new, but there was not one soul to buy it. I loaded up that day !

Re: Gun Sickness

Just a thought before someone states that they buy and sell and make a consistent profit at it, but that sort of encapsulates what an FFL licensee is supposed to be doing. Do it often enough, and you might attract attention.

Re: Gun Sickness

I think the ATF only will give 2 cent if you are selling for profit? How to show you sold or traded for profit is beyond me. If you have any links to what the exact line would be or examples I have a open ear. Not that I do any of these things just good info to have. I do not like even getting close to a grey line in this matter. I aint going back to jail -- I kid I kid.

Fortunately, with me, I only buy firearms parts and gear to trade or sale, and keep the guns for myself.

Re: Gun Sickness

A few times a year I will buy something to play with for a bit then resell it.

If you are buying with the intention of reselling for profit I could see the ATF classifying you as a de-facto dealer without a license.

Re: Gun Sickness

Hi...my name is Steven....and I am a addict too.

I spend right much time on here and it drives the wifey nuts...shes always like, "Get off the computer..is that all you wanna do is sit on the computer?"
I constantly want to buy another gun...I enjoy it.

Re: Gun Sickness

My wife says it's a "spending addiction". Guns just happen to be the fix for the need. Just before this thread started we had this conversation and I was forced to justify the new purchase of the Armalite SASS. As I explained to her that I was trading my FNAR in on it...she immediatly wanted to know what the Armalite will shoot that the FNAR would not or for that matter the 3 GAP rifles in the safe. I told her that anyone with common sense knows the answer to that one. She just shook her head and walked away...I think I convinced her???

Good thing she didn't ask me to ellaborate on it..I wasn't sure I had the right answer:(

Re: Gun Sickness

Hi, I'm Curtis, I'm a gunoholic as well. I just bought a new rifle so I'm feeling fine right now. I know the itch will come back. Also, a true gunoholic will never sell, you never know when you might need a extra two or three or four.
