gun storage in the backseat

Ok, I'm looking for a storage in my pickup truck. Anyone who owns or familiar with Du-Ha underseat storage? I will be using it to store my rifles, ammunitions and other stuff. There's also the Husky underseat gearbox, although I think Du-ha looks more spacious.

From the looks of that, I believe I'd rather have them in padded cases and stacked. I guess that depends on what kind of firearms you plan on hauling.

Unless you use the bed of your truck for hauling dirt, rocks, and stuff like that; I would go with a Truck Vault.

I made one with wood and covered it in black carpet to match factory carpet. Looks factory. It only took about 30 minutes. I had the wood laying around and the carpet was $10 at Walmart.

I had one. Ran it in two different trucks and when it wouldn't go in my latest one I gave it to a buddy of mine. It won't fit they type of rifles we normally use because of the width of the forend. You would have to open things up some. Wouldn't be hard to do I just never did it. I always had too much shit thrown on top of my seat to fold it up and access the duha. I kept all kinds of emergency things in there though. I'd have had to take the car seat out and all the other shit to get to it though. I think it's easier to lay a blanket down and put a rifle on that then fold it over. I can slide the rifle out the door when I need it no matter of stuff is on the seat.

As an aside, and maybe this should be in a new thread (what say you?) does anyone have experience with any "roof racks" for firearms? Seeing as not all of us are eleventeen feet tall, and some of us are only 5'7"... there's plenty of space on the roof inside our F-150 4x4 to put things. With the tinted windows, AND the extra height, there could even be a 'cover' so-to-speak so that nothing is visible. Lockable, even.

My truck bed has a soft roll-up cover only and I don't have a toolbox. If my rifles won't fit in the DuHa storage, I can still use it for my tools and other stuff.
