Guns........ A great Financial Investment

Re: Guns........ A great Financial Investment

Don't know if they're really a great investment, but they can certainly be a good "bank account."

I found myself out of work some years back, and sold off $20,000 worth without emptying the safe even half way. I turned that into machine tools and ran a garage-based business that kept me pretty fat for the next several years. Got bored with it, and I'm not doing that work now, but the tools are still ready and waiting if I need to generate my own income again.

Cheers... Jim

I have been making favorable purchases for over 25 years and if you buy right it is the best investment because you can play with toys untill it is time to sell and make a profit. I keep a little stash in my wallet for those good buys when they come along.

Spam... Check
Guns... Check

Here's a good Spam recipe: Toast two slices of bread, lather with mayonaise on one side of each bread and then put a slice of Spam in the middle (fried or not fried).

Two out of three not bad.

Will President Obama tighten the rules on gun sales? I have my doubts. With the economy collapsing, he has bigger fish to fry. Nonetheless, if history is any guide, the NRA will constantly ring the alarm bell for the next four or eight years … and gun manufacturers will reap the benefits. </div></div>

Although I agree guns are a great investment, I would differ somewhat with his philosophy. Guns have always been a stable investment.

And, I think Obama has demonstrated by his past performance of what his plans are....

Re: Guns........ A great Financial Investment

There was an article about this in the Wall Street Journal a couple weeks ago stating this exact phenomenon. Guns have kept value far more consistently than many other investments, especially in down times. And Old Gray One is right, you get to play with these investments while you own them. Can't stretch a blue chip stock out to 1k!

Re: Guns........ A great Financial Investment

Buy a gun right now is NOT an investment, when you can wait a few months and buy it for half the price being the law of supply and demand is in full swing right now.....
We are about to be bombarded with a HUGE supply of stuff in a few months.

Re: Guns........ A great Financial Investment

I'm not one to purchase a gun simply for resale. I usually buy one because it fills a need (or desire) i had at that particular time. I usually sell it when someone "just has to have it" or I haven't touched it in a few years and a new project arises.

My wife and I have comes to terms that my gun fund is my gun fund. She gets the paycheck and overtime......

I agree with most of this statement. I have seen first hand people charging there plastic cards to purchase Guns and ammo. when the bills catch up with them and the heat is removed a bit (I Hope) there will be some good buys out there. With all the Ar rifle production going on, and when the heat settles the ar companies will really have to lower there prices to sell anything new as the surplus of guns will such that there will be a deal every time you turn around, thus driving down the price of private owned ar prices. What goes around comes around!!
