I've read several raving reviews of this cleaning solvent, but with no 'hands on' experience, am reluctant to just buy the next 'do it all' cleaning solvent. I've already got a rack full that don't do what they claim.
Have any of you used this product? If so, please advise of your results.
Thanks,

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

Its different but it works. We used it to keep 15 rack rifles running during a patrol rifle training program. Those 15 ARs ate about 200,000 rounds of Wolf 223 during the 6 months of the program.

I would not count on it to clean copper from the barrel, but it works well on carbon build up. Its real thin and runs everywhere (like Kroil or other penetrating oil) For that reason, I dont use it on bolt guns. Since its thin, it does not stick well as a lube, but because its thin, it easy to apply more without breaking down the gun.

Short story:

ARs+handguns yes
Bolt guns no

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

My intent is to use it for the AR 15 for general cleaning.
I know they make a seperate 'copper getter', which I suppose I will have to try. The lack of comments on this thread makes me wonder how much use of Gunzilla, there really is.
Thanks for your comments, Steve.

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

We have been testing it here on some guns at work and it really does a good job!!

I would recommend the use of it!!

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

We have it to test but we are not using it on anything special or putting much effort to test for the among of copper it may or may not be taking out of the gun

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

If you want to see carbon melt off of stuff with no smell, check out TM Total Solution.

I have been through this progression, with each one being way better than the previous:

- Hoppes #9 (and old bottle that gives you liver lesions)
- Shooter's Choice
- Butch's
- Montana Extreme

Montana Extreme works really well and stinks like a bitch. The TM Total Solution, which is water based, has no smell and you can literally watch the carbon flow off of a dirty AR-15 bolt. As it cuts the carbon so well, the copper is more easily gotten at as it is more exposed.

I've not used Gunzilla but it sounds like it works similarly.

Lube is Amsoil Synthetic ATF properly applied. It helps keep the carbon on the bolt loose.

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

You should have no problem using it on an ar-15. We were getting cases of it overseas and were using it on everything from the M4s up to and including .50 cals and Mark 19's without any issues.

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

I actually met the guy that owns Gunzilla a few years back in Tulsa, OK. he was there for a gunshow and I was at Battle Assembly (drill) and we ran into each other at Outback steakhouse, long story short, he's a great guy, he bought my dinner and I left with a case of Gunzilla, haven't bought any Hoppes since, the stuff works great.

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

I've been using Zilla now on all sorts of boolit launchers and it does a great job. With minimal/no stink.

NOMAD, give Don (the aforementioned great guy president) a call. They came out with a copper solvent that does a pretty good job with no where near the offensive odor as somthing like the shooters choice stuff. I believe they call it copperzilla.

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

Thanks too all for the input. Prior to my post I was only casually, considering the product. Your responses have convinced me I really need to try it out.
Now, to find a place that carries it. No one in Mt. has it and most have never heard of it.

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

How does Gunzilla and other solvents compare against each other for bolt-action rifles? Regarding carbon, lead (rare - not many lead bullets go through precision bolt-action rifles) and copper?

Re: Gunzilla Cleaning Solvent

I've been using it since they gave out free samples at the Camp Perry Nationals in 2006. I use it on my AR's, M-14 and my bolt Rem 700. I love how it "lifts" the carbon off the parts. Also as a benefit since it has the wicking action I'm amazed how well my hands clean up once I get it on my hands.

I like it
