Anyone have first hand experience with these reticles? I understand that they don't have a lot in common but they do both utilize the hollow dots for mils and something about this really makes sense to my brain. I'm not so worried about the scope as were talking about S&B and ZCO, just wondering if anyone has shot both and their opinion on them. Thanks for any info.

Happy Shooting.

I know it’s not exactly what your asking but if it’s the reticle you’re after, and they’re similar to you with the “hollow dots”...my ZCO glass is a level beyond my PMII (T3 reticle).

I like both reticles actually, why I still own the PMII. It’s not night and day but certainly noticeable resolution difference at 300 yards looking at bullet holes on an off-white target with conveyer belt black backing. Frankly, I pretty much like everything else about the ZCO as well. I’ll probably always keep my PMII though. Gotta have some variety in your life! 🍻

The hollow dots make sense as long as you're holding full MIL values if you're somewhere in between I think they are less practical imho.

Absolutely loved the H2CMR, and would love to own one again. I normally say pick the reticle you prefer in high end optics, but I think you should look at the spec sheet and look for something that will set one apart from the other for you.

If you can afford it, buy both and try them out for a few months and sell the one you don’t like. I like the Schmidt’s personally, but the ZCO mpct3 is the one I would pick if I didn’t use the h2cmr. Neither are going to hold you back at all.

I was one of the first to use the H2CMR when it came out and when it did it was a good reticle and I liked it more than the P4F but if you plan to shoot matches then the ZCO would be the winner easily between the choices.

No for what it is it works great but when using the reticle for elevation and wind holds in matches or general use the Christmas tree style reticle will be more accurate and easier for the shooter.

So floating a 1 moa target out in space is more accurate / precise that dialing elevation and having a fixed point to hold on? Hmm.

You have the option to do both in the tree style but sometimes you will be doing both at matches and yes it is accurate with practice and knowing how to hold with the reticle. It will be much more accurate than no reference marks and holding in space with the H2CMR.

I’ve owned them both and really liked both of them. I prefer a center dot so the MPCT 3 gets the edge on that. Simplicity goes to the H2CMR. If you don’t think you need the tree than the H2CMR might be your best bet.

I haven't read all the responses.
But here is my take.
I have 4 of the H2CMR reticles. I have an MPCT1 & MPCT2 also. And have shot an MPCT3 briefly (not mine).

The H2CMR is not only a 1MIL open dot. It is a .9, 1, and 1.1mil subtension. Outer edges are .9 and .1 MIL. So you get .2, .4, .6, .8, .9, 1, 1.1, 1.2, 1.4 etc. subtensions.
