Anyone put a Halo LR or 25 on a bolt gun? Have to move towards different mounts? I see bobro makes one with a ton of cantilever, and wondering if it's necessary.
Night Vision Halo on a bolt gun?

Just ordered this mount in anticipation of getting a Halo-LR. No idea how it’s going to workout. Hoping others pipe up in terms is there success mounting to a bolt gun. It appears to have plenty of cantilever, that’s for damn sure.
All I can think is cheek weld issues since it looks like it's about 1.5" over rail like most "flat top" type optics
If it can be mounted far enough to the rear with out having to crawl up the stock like a monkey it might work.
Adjustable cheek piece is pretty much a given since most everything thermal and Nightvision is made for AR rifles.?

IIRC @Travis224 got a HALO-LR during the group buy, specifically because we talked and decided it would work better on a bolt gun.
Hopefully, he will be along to tell us how it worked out.

Worst case, Ive run thermals on bolt guns by putting a riser on there and reversing it. And that works, though it does certainly "change" the cheek/stock weld. But the Halo mount is further forward on the housing than the trijicon, hence we thought it would work. Proof is in the eating.

Excellent, exactly what I was wanting to know. Got a LR coming the end of the week and didn't know if I should be ordering the cantilever mount as well.

if you need to raise the cheek weld use mole skin. Works well and fast, and if you change your situation just take it off. that and duct tape work great.
Works good for me. I built this gun for night time use and I use all kinds of optics on it including halos and reaps. Adjusting the cheek height is a must. Or if you don’t have an adjustable cheek you can use pool noodles cut in half. That works great too!

I have a halo LR mounted on a ruger M77 in 22-250 is works great. can ding a 10 inch plate at 450 no problem. The clarity is impressive and weight of the optic is the lightest optic in its class. I have both the LR and the 25 each shine in different situations. the halo 25 i like for sounders of pigs and the LR is great for longer single item engagements. I had a MK3 and that was the only scope that could hang with the the LR as far as clarity and legs but it was a brick on the gun. I did like the zoom knobs of the mk2 and mk3 best of any optic on the market. Finger banging buttons that are close together at night is a pain in the butt.
Tried putting the Halo LR on a couple bolt guns, and had some observations
I actually found that the bolt of a Christensen arms MPR (basically a rem700) would hit the ADM mount if I left it hanging off the rear of the rail at all. So either I had to push it back up until it was at least flush, or consider shorter throw bolt action.
Decided to put it in a fix rifle and that seems to work well.
