Frontier Arms in Cheyenne 307-433-0807 has a black, fixed stock, Remington ACR in 5.56 that arrived 0406. I handled/fondled but didn't molest it. Looks like a nice rig. But at $2295 I had to remind myself that it does what my black 16" Aug and my other AR's do: launch 5.56 projectiles. It's a high dollar bullet launcher. It hadn't sold when I left, but was much fingered by customers.
Nice piece but man, the prices are killing me. I have a hard time sticking a $3000 (with optics) rifle in a patrol car, but then again, my first issued patrol shotgun in 1977 was a Winchester Riot 1897 pump (No, I'm not kidding). I have moved up to a Benelli M-1 S90 Tactical, all Surefire-d out of course.... Convince me that the ACR is better than the DPMS M-4/Eotech I've got in the car now.....

I would say it is better than a DPMS, but not 2300 dollars better. IMO I don't think it is worth double the money of the best DI ARs on the market.

Re: Handled Remington ACR SN#51 yesterday afternoon..

wait a year they will come down - remember the SCAR...I am pretty sure lots of people are using your same logic.

Are you sure it wasn't the Bushmaster version? Even the Remington website lists 1:7" as the only twist rate for their version of the rifle, which is the one intended for military trials.

Re: Handled Remington ACR SN#51 yesterday afternoon..

I stand corrected: Bushmaster. Man, with all the corporate conglomerations it's hard to keep up; and the whole SN was BL00051 (I think that's enough zeros) for those that care.
Apologies to any that I misinformed unintentionally.

Remington/Bushmaster/Barnes and who else is in the new corporation?
I just hope it's not owned by that jackass (or do I have to say mule to get by the swear filter?) Bloomberg and he shuts it all down at once after he milks it for all its worth...

Re: Handled Remington ACR SN#51 yesterday afternoon..

Remington version is only available to the military and LEO crowd....

It had to be a bushmaster to be in a local shop. Just picked mine up today. Not thrilled with it until I can drop the shorter barrel, tri rail hand guard, and fully adjustable stock. I put my M4-1000 can on it and put a 20rd mag thru it. Shoot fine, the interchangeable barrel system and having the entire gun break down within a few seconds to change your setup is what sold me on it. It beats the SCAR all to hell in the comfort department as well. Not sure its worth $2295 but I had mine prepaid and wanted to get a jump on the paperwork to SBR it. I could care less about a chrome lined barrel..... the way it shoots now its accurate enough to take a carbine course no problem in running it hard. It does surprisingly have Magpul insignia on the stock. Didn't think they would give them props.

Fully dressed or how it comes out of the box? I will say its fore end heavy, slightly. The barrel and its wrench system makes some decent weight up front but you got to think other then the top shroud, trigger assembly, and charging handle its mostly a polymer gun. So the weights in the front. I dont have a scale here at home so I cant give you an exact weight.

Re: Handled Remington ACR SN#51 yesterday afternoo

I was a big fan of the idea when it was in development and it was stated it would weigh and cost about as much as a good AR-15 but the final product came in overweight and overpriced and I lost interest.

It's a shame too because Bushmaster got greedy and squandered a tremendous ammount of good will and potential.

Re: Handled Remington ACR SN#51 yesterday afternoo

That is not too bad.

I did the math and a LWRC M6A3 with a 4x ACOG + M4-1000 + 30 rd. PMAG loaded = about 9.4 pounds.

Hmmmmm, which to get.

Re: Handled Remington ACR SN#51 yesterday afternoo

I am pretty sure that it will have some bugs that will need attending to. Just wait it out and wait for the multiple barrel lengths and the 1:7 barrel. When the enhanced model comes out I think it is an extra ~$400 for a rail system and a folding an adjustable buttstock. For that money get an LWRC M6A3 and it has a 4 position gas system with a closed option. I am actually waiting for the 7.62x39 kit to come out for the ACR.
