Harris S type bipod keeps coming loose

I have a Harris S type bipod on my Savage 10FCP-K and every time I finish a shooting session I notice that the mounting screw gets loose and the bipod will then be loose enough to wobble on the stock.
Is this normal or can I do something to the bipod to help keep it tight?

Post a pic of the bipod on the rifle...

I have never seen this happen and have been around thousands of harris bipods.

Before you post a pic... are you sure its a harris? are you sure you tightened it properly? and is it facing the correct direction?

Use a screwdriver. A little blue locktight wouldnt hurt either.

You said Harris "type" bipod. The cheap bipods are just that...cheap. I have a Harris "type" one on a Ruger 10/22 and its crappy but works for what it is. I'd suggest if you dont have an ACTUAL Harris to buy one. Their is a difference.

not a common issue. You shouldn't need to torque it down...finger tight is plenty.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
The bipod I have is indeed a Harris it is the swivel type.
It is installed correctly and fits the rifle nicely.
It's just that the thumb wheel has this tendency to loosen up from shooting.

Tighten it down more. I use an Allen wrench on all of mine and it never comes loose.

I just got back from the range about an hour ago, had this same thing happen to me. After 30-40 rounds the screw had worked itself loose enough that when I picked my rifle up the bipod was only being held by the knubs that go into the stud.

I'll be giving Rob01's suggestion a try next time out.

Been happening to my swivel harris lately too. Just noticed it the other day. Tightened it, shot 10 more rounds, and it was loose again.

So I took the bitch off and put the sling back on, I enjoy traditional military sling shooting anyways.

Quit tightening your bipods like a 12 year old girl and pull out an allen wrench already. Hell... I need an allen wrench just to get mine off...

My thumb wheel is cemented in like Thor himself was cranking on it. Have you tried Locktite yet?

^^^This. Every single Harris I have will do this if I don't use the Allen wrench and torque it down. Just be careful not to torque it so hard you strip the threads out. The threads are really just inside a folded piece of sheet metal, and I suspect you could strip them out pretty easily. I get it as tight as I can with my fingers, then do another 1/4 to 1/2 turn with the Allen wrench. As Rob stated, they don't come loose.
