I just set up a 308 RPR with 5-25 Burris XTR II in Burris XTR Signature rings. Signature rings have inserts where one can cant the scope for increased MOA. SO, is 45 MOA total cant of the scope on the gun too much? Shooting to 900yds mostly. Wondering if trying to keep the reticle close to optically centered matters in this scope. 90 MOA turret adjustment for scope.

I'm not a scope engineer, but this is what I've been told/read. Bottoming out your scope for zero can damage them. Maybe not all, but most of the internal tubes don't like to be kept at their extreme range. A gray beard I shoot with said he tries to leave 10% of the full travel below zero.

Assuming these things are true; yes, that's too much. If you just dropped 5 off your inserts and were at 40 it would be better.
In truth for 900 yards you don't need anywhere near that much up elevation unless you're shooting a .45/70 or some other huge rainbow thrower.
